The "electronics" package for GNU Octave provides functions for electronics calculations. Select resistor or capacitor values from E3 to E192 series, convert two-port parameter sets, calculate operational characteristics (voltage gain, current gain, input impedance, output impedance) for two-port circuits connected to generator and load impedance, convert ratio to dB and vice versa, calculate parallel impedances, and round values to a number of significant leading digits.

With this software and a simple external hardware, the sound card input of a PC can be used to measure stationary or slowly changing analog signals (e.g. voltages). The hardware converts the input signal into a voltage proportional frequency. The software measures the frequency via the sound card and calculates the corresponding input signal level which is displayed numerically and in a “scope-like” view.

SSSim is a sound system (PA) simulation. You can create a virtual sound system (complete with mixers, speakers, cables, etc.) and check the system for proper connections and Ohm/Amp/Voltage problems. It is intended to be used in a training environment.
