Near-optimal RNA-Seq quantification
...According to benchmarks done on a Mac desktop computer, kallisto can quantify 30 million human bulk RNA-seq reads in less than 3 minutes with just the read sequences and a transcriptome index, that in itself can take more than 10 minutes to build. And since it uses pseudoalignment, it is robust to errors in the reads and preserves the key information needed for quantification. This makes kallisto not only fast but highly accurate as well. In many benchmarks, it even greatly outperforms existing tools. -

Viewpix allows the user to load all eleven bands of a Landsat 8 Level 1 data set into memory concurrently. You can scroll and view each band at full resolution. Change bands instantly with a single key press. Band 8 is 15 meters resolution, all other bands are 30m resolution. A 30m resolution gray scale scene is generated by Viewpix and is presented as band 12. Each Landsat 8 scene is roughly 190 X 180 kilometers. Spaceman Spiff's Chording Keyboard Experiment (or SpiffChorder for short) is an experimental platform for creating a USB chording keyboard. A chording keyboard or Chorded keyboard is an input device where characters can be typed by pressing multiple keys at the same time. A popular design is the 7-key chorder, where one key is used for each of the index finger, middle finger, ring finger and pinky, and 3 keys for the thumb.
