IEC61850 IED Explorer in .net
IEDExplorer is an IEC 61850 client tool written for testing and educational purposes. IEDExplorer can connect to an IEC61850 device (also called an IED) over MMS (ISO/IEC9506-1 and ISO/IEC 9506-2) communication protocol. The tool is written in pure C# including the MMS ASN.1 parser (based on BinaryNotes ASN.1 tool) and runs in .net environment, on Windows. Linux/Mono support has been lost on the way (volunteers welcome). Actually it is relatively incomplete but still it can: - inspect MMS variables in the tree structure - read values - create or delete variable lists - activate and read un/buffered reports - read directories and files (e.g. for COMTRADE protection event records) - capture MMS packets It also supports writing to variables and sending commands, both in a limited scope yet. There is a lot to do to improve the tool, including: - functionality - testing - stability - new functions design etc. I will appreciate any help.

Python GUI program for Geiger counters like GMC-300/320/500/600
GeigerLog is a Python based GUI program to work with GQ Electronic's GMC-300 / 320 and GMC-500 /600 Geiger counters. Latest release 0.9.07 running on Python 3 with some new, improved handling of the Geiger counters; improved customization. Now supporting Radiation Maps even for non-WiFi counters. GeigerLog allows reading of Geiger counter data, logging to file, printing to screen and plotting as graph, showing Count Rate vs. Time, both in various, selectable units. The history stored on the Geiger counter's internal memory can be extracted, analyzed and graphed in the same way. The graph is live auto-updated and allows various customization. Time ranges for analysis can be set manually or per left/right mouse click. GeigerLog can control some functions of a connected counter. Quality control of the data is made possible with standard Statistics, Poisson Test on count rate histograms, and FFT & Autocorrelation analysis for any periodic signal hidden within the data.
itom - an Open Source Measurement, Automation and Evaluation Software
itom is an open source software suite for operating measurement systems, laboratory automation and data evaluation. One main application of itom is the development and operation of sensor and measurement system for instance in a laboratory environment. Therefore, the software has to be able to communicate with a wide range of different hardware systems, such as cameras or actuators and should provide a diversified and as complete as possible set of evaluation and data processing methods. Additionally, the rapid prototyping of modern measurement and inspection setups requires a system, where parameters or components can easily be changed at runtime, necessitating the availability of an embedded scripting language. Finally, when operating a measurement system, it is also desirable to extend the graphical user interface by system adapted dialogs and windows. https://itom.bitbucket.io/
Java Disk Benchmark Utility
Simple Java utility to help bench mark disk IO. Benchmark is done by creating and reading data files to a user directory that can be configured. Suggestions would be very appreciated. https://gitlab.com/jamesmarkchan/jDiskMark/ Note: When doing a combined read and write operation the disk cache is not cleared automatically so the app must be restarted to avoid the cache from affecting read IO performance.
PyRPL turns your Red Pitaya into a powerful analog feedback device.
The Red Pitaya is a commercial, affordable FPGA board with fast analog inputs and outputs. This makes it useful for quantum optics experiments, in particular as a digital feedback controller for analog systems. Based on the open source software provided by the board manufacturer, PyRPL (Python RedPitaya Lockbox) implements many devices that are needed for optics experiments with the Red Pitaya. PyRPL implements various digital signal processing (DSP) modules (see features below). It allows to arbitrarily interconnect the available DSP modules and retrieve signal values on timescales below 1 ms. The graphical user interface (GUI) provides a realtime display of the various measurement instruments and allows the easy configuration of DSP signal chains and feedback controllers. At the highest abstraction level, arbitrary feedback sequences can be defined to fulfill tasks as complex as approaching and locking a resonance of a high-finesse Fabry-Perot cavity (tested up to finesse=100,000).
Java wrapper for native VISA library and TDS3000 oscilloscope driver
Write VISA instrument drivers in Java for Windows and Linux. Maybe the best way to give a full description is to explain the history of this project. History: This instrument driver project is part of of a non open source data acquisition and analysis project used at Colorado School of Mines, JSeisLab. JSeisLab is a Java port of its predecessor "Spectrum Division for Windows" which is written in VB 6.0. Design: I created a 64-bit JNA wrapper with IVI's visa.h version 5.0 as input to JNAerator (https://github.com/nativelibs4java/JNAerator). Instrument drivers written in Java can use this wrapper. A 64-bit VISA library from either an instrument company (e.g. National Instruments, Tektronix) when running Windows or libvisa (http://www.librevisa.org) when running Linux needs to be installed .

Tool for Analysis of Surface Cracks (TASC)
TASC - 2014 NASA Software of the Year Co-Winner! TASC V1.0.2 is now available. - See users manual for release details Tool for Analysis of Surface Cracks (TASC) is a computer program created in MATLAB to enable easy computation of nonlinear J-integral solutions for surface cracked plates in tension by accessing and interpolating between the 600 nonlinear surface crack solutions documented in NASA/TP–2013-217480. The only required inputs are the surface crack dimensions (2c and a), plate cross-section dimensions (W and B), and linear plus power law material properties of elastic modulus, yield strength, and strain hardening coefficient. With the geometry and material parameters entered, TASC interpolates to the appropriate J(φ) vs. crack mouth opening displacement (CMOD) and far-field tension stress, σ, vs. CMOD solution, providing the full solution as CMOD ranges from zero out to the CMOD limit of the solution space for the given input parameters.

An easy-to-use timer to facilitate complex, multi-step protocols.
ExpTimer is developed as an easy-to-use timer to facilitate complex, multi-step experimental protocols. The advantages of ExpTimer are that it takes away the fiddling around with typical lab timers, which have to be reset after each action, and at the same time it shows you what to do next. You just enter your own protocol, press “start” and you do not have to worry about timers anymore, especially when you already have your hands full with your protocol. If something goes wrong during your experimental procedure, just press “pause” (to pause the timer) or “reset” (to start all over again). Of course, the program has a much broader area of application than experiments only.
