  • WavePacket (Matlab) Icon

    WavePacket (Matlab)

Dynamics of quantum systems, controlled by external fields

WavePacket is a program package for numerical simulation of quantum-mechanical wavepacket dynamics for distinguishable particles. It can be used to solve one or more (i.e. coupled channels) time-independent or time-dependent (linear) Schrödinger and Liouville-von Neumann-equations. Optionally accounting for the interaction with external electric fields within the semiclassical dipole approximation, WavePacket can simulate modern experiments using ultrashort light pulses in photo-induced physics or chemistry, including quantum optimal control. The graphical capabilities allow visualization 'on the fly', including Wigner transforms to phase space. For more detailed description see also our articles in Computer Physics Communications at https://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.cpc.2016.12.007 and https://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.cpc.2018.02.022. First established in 2004, the present Matlab version is in a stable, mature state. Further development mainly by Burkhard Schmidt at Free University Berlin

  • xfemm

Cross platform electromagnetics finite element analyisis based on FEMM

Cross platform electromagnetics finite element analysis code, with very tight integration with Matlab/Octave. xfemm is a refactoring of the core algorithms of the popular Windows-only FEMM (Finite Element Method Magnetics, www.femm.info) to use only the standard template library and therefore be cross-platform. The codes can be used as a library, standalone executables, or through the advanced Matlab/Octave interface, which uses direct data exchange at the memory level rather than the original FEMM ActiveX or file-based interface, for much improved communication speed. If you use xfemm, particularly for industrial work, but also academic, it will be greatly appreciated if you could write an email stating this and how it has supported your work. This is a low-cost way to ensure further development and maintenance will continue! Contact me on the discussion forum for more information.

  • SDE Toolbox

A MATLAB package to simulate sample paths of the solution of a Itô or Stratonovich stochastic differential equation (SDE), compute statistics and estimate the parameters from data. A note of caution: SDE Toolbox is no more developed but it's still downloadable. Its inferential capabilities can be considered surpassed (at best). Actually the parameter estimation methods were already far from the state-of-art when the project began in 2007 (!). The considered implemented parametric and non-parametric Monte Carlo likelihood methods were chosen for their ability to treat both one-dimensional and multivariate SDE systems, although the quality of the inferential results can't match those obtained using more advanced techniques. Nevertheless the toolbox capabilities to simulate numerical solutions of SDE systems are still valid and can serve as a useful starting point to those willing to simulate stochastic dynamical models easily.

    MICROMECHANICS

A collection of lecture notes and accompanying code on micromechanics

The collection MICROMECHANICS (micromechanics.zip) includes: (1) lecture notes (microbook.pdf) on the analysis of heterogeneous materials and homogenization, and (2) source codes (microcode.tar.bz2) that accompany the computational exercises in Part II of the notes. Instructions on using the codes are given in the README file of each exercise. Further instructions can be found in the file microcode.tar.bz2. The MATLAB codes are used for visualization, evaluating analytical bounds and estimates as well as in the generation of digital and particulate microstructures. The Fortran codes are based on the finite element method in linear and nonlinear settings, the latter capable of finite deformations with damage. The underlying theory is outlined in the lecture notes. -- İlker Temizer Assistant Professor Department of Mechanical Engineering Bilkent University 06800 Bilkent, Ankara Turkey
