Time-dependent simulation of open and closed quantum systems
WavePacket is a program package for numerical simulation of quantum-mechanical wavepacket dynamics for distinguishable particles. It can be used to solve one or more (i.e. coupled channels) time-independent or time-dependent (linear) Schrödinger and Liouville-von Neumann-equations. Optionally accounting for the interaction with external electric fields within the semiclassical dipole approximation, WavePacket can simulate modern experiments using ultrashort light pulses in photo-induced physics or chemistry. WavePacket is especially suitable for teaching of quantum mechanics as well as for research projects in physics, chemistry, and scientific computing. The present C++ version is an object-oriented rewrite of the existing Matlab version aiming to be more flexible. In particular, the goals are easy handling of open and closed systems and support for unusual setups.

An Agent-Based Simulation of Invasive Pest Insects
MED-FOES is an implementation of a stochastic Agent-Based Simulation (ABS) system for analyzing demographic changes in a single population of Medfly (Ceratitis capitata) over time. The simulation currently takes population extinction as a given because it aims to give us better estimates of necessary quarantine lengths in areas where Medfly is not currently established but does repeatedly invade. Thus the objective of this software is to estimate the time to local extirpation based on known ranges of developmental, survivorship and reproductive parameters, as well as assumed ranges of an eradication pressure parameter. For a complete analysis and estimate of time to extirpation one would execute a large number of individual simulations evenly distributed over parameter space to estimate the time at which an arbitrary percentage of the simulations show extirpation.
Galaxy extraterrestrial life simulation
EtiC is a galaxy simulation software that generates and renders a mock galaxy for rational estimation of the number of extraterrestrial civilizations. Stars and planets are simulated with plausible physical characteristics, based on user-adjustable parameters. An EtiC simulation run consists to generate a galaxy disk physical stars, associate planets to the stars, and for habitable planets, simulate the life stages evolution until extinction. A visual animation of the galaxy and user selection of highlighted star-planet objects is provided, together with statistics (25+ graphs) and estimates of Drake equation factors. The V2_1 provides several new features: planets surface magnetic field, reworked life stage transitions, integration of MW exoplanets catalog, planets view and graphs window optionally on different threads... EtiC is based on OpenGL / GLFW 3.2, runs on MSWindows 7 and MacOsX. Source code in C++, was developped using the Dev-C++ IDE and XCode.
C++ class to generate biologically plausible genetic codes
The "GeneticCode" C++ class is designed to generate versions of the genetic code subject to the requirements of the three major models of the genetic code origin and evolution (about these models see, e.g., Koonin & Novozhilov, 2009, IUBMB Life). This class was written specifically to perform statistical test for the paper Makukov & shCherbak (2017), but it might be used for a wider class of studies related to the genetic code. By default, the class "GeneticCode" generates alternative genetic codes, with the reqirement of block structure, and, optionally, with the assumption of stereochemical or biosynthetic models (to impose the assumption of the adaptive model, simply filter the codes using the error_cost() function). See Appendix in Makukov & shCherbak (2017) for the description of the algorithm. The code requires Qt 5. To compile the provided example, run 'qmake' to produce the Makefile, and then run 'make' to compile the executable file. License: Public Domain.

"E-plater" is a device that was specially developed by Engenharia Caseira (engenhariacaseira.com.br) to make pulsed and reversed pulsed electroplating (PED). Research shows that molecules on the surface of electrically deposited material using direct current are sometimes disorganized which can result in uneven surface and color. It is possible to control the composition and thickness of the deposited layer in an atomic order by configuring the amplitude and width of a pulse. The pulses favor the initiation of grain nuclei and increase the number of grains per unit of surface resulting in the thinner deposit with better properties.
