    SAGA GIS

SAGA - System for Automated Geoscientific Analyses - is a Geographic Information System (GIS) software with immense capabilities for geodata processing and analysis. SAGA is programmed in the object oriented C++ language and supports the implementation of new functions with a very effective Application Programming Interface (API). Functions are organised as modules in framework independent Module Libraries and can be accessed via SAGA’s Graphical User Interface (GUI) or various scripting environments (shell scripts, Python, R, ...). Please provide the following reference in your work if you are using SAGA: Conrad, O., Bechtel, B., Bock, M., Dietrich, H., Fischer, E., Gerlitz, L., Wehberg, J., Wichmann, V., and Boehner, J. • The JUMP Pilot Project Icon

    The JUMP Pilot Project

OpenJUMP is a community driven fork of JUMP the "Java Unified Mapping Platform" GIS software. The original JUMP was developed by Vivid Solutions, released under GPL2 in 2003 and discontinued in 2006. During 2004 already some enthusiastic developers joined together to enhance further the features of JUMP. They launched an independent development branch called OpenJUMP. The name gives credit to the original JUMP development, and at the same time describes the objectives of this project to be fully open to anyone wanting to contribute. These days OpenJUMP is developed and maintained by (some few) volunteers around the globe. If you need functionality or even better want to contribute you are very welcome to contact us at our mailing list.

Automated detection of the unknown early map projection

New scientific software supporting the automated detection of the early map projection and its parameters. Useful for studying and analysis of different kinds of maps with the lack of information about the map projection. The analysis is based on the minimization of residuals between control points on the early and current reference maps. Designed for cartographers as well as for enthusiasts. Available free of charge. The awareness of the map projection is primarily important for: • refinement of spatial georeference for the medium- and small-scale maps, • analysis of the knowledge about the former world, • location of the incorrectly/inaccurately drawn map regions. Sytem requirements: • 2 GHz or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor. • 2 GB RAM (32-bit) or 4 GB RAM (64-bit) system. • 120 MB available hard disk space. • JDK 1.8 +. • Internet connection (download speed > 2Mb/s

Batch convert Lat/Long to UTM for Zone 19

This simple R code converts GPS coordinates from Decimal Degrees or Degrees Minutes Seconds format to Northings and Eastings in UTM Zone 19. Coordinates should be entered as a .csv containing the column names "Latitude" and "Longitude" (capitalization does not matter). The code was designed primarily for use by researchers at the University of Maine working on the Penobscot River, but could be easily modified to handle other UTM Zones.
