MorphoLim : identifying city boundaries
MorphoLim has been moved to sourcesup (https://sourcesup.renater.fr/morpholim/). MorphoLim is dedicated to the identification of the morphological boundary of urban agglomerations. The method used avoids the need for any pre-defined maximum distance threshold between buildings. It is based on the conceptual and methodological tools of fractal geometry. Authors of the application: Cécile Tannier, Gilles Vuidel, and Pierre Frankhauser (ThéMA, Besançon, France)
GeOxygene aims at providing an open framework which implements OGC/ISO specifications for the development and deployment of geographic (GIS) applications. It is a open source contribution of the COGIT lab. at the IGN (the French National Mapping Agency).
A GUI for the freeware Geographical Information System PCRaster
A GUI for the freeware Geographical Information System PCRaster. This is an independent development. Comes with a map editor "mapedit" Can make a link with GDAL for conversions. The GIT repository is available linked to PCRaster and available here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/pcraster/ The code is currently compiled for windows systems but is tested under ubuntu.
GPSdings (project name GPStools) is a set of free applications that let you manipulate and analyse GPS data from the command line.
** This site is of historical interest only. The project is active on www.gpsbabel.org and github. Some of the county/state files remain active, but no version of GPSBabel should be downloaded from this site. ** GPSBabel reads, writes, and manipulates GPS waypoints in a variety of formats. Over 100 supported formats include GPX, Magellan and Garmin serial and USB protocols, Geocaching *.loc, Garmin Mapsource, and Magellan Mapsend. For Windows, Linux, Mac.
Batch convert Lat/Long to UTM for Zone 19
This simple R code converts GPS coordinates from Decimal Degrees or Degrees Minutes Seconds format to Northings and Eastings in UTM Zone 19. Coordinates should be entered as a .csv containing the column names "Latitude" and "Longitude" (capitalization does not matter). The code was designed primarily for use by researchers at the University of Maine working on the Penobscot River, but could be easily modified to handle other UTM Zones.
Load, modify and save your GPX 1.1 files. Add and remove waypoints, edit track and routes, simplify tracks (reducing file's size), clean recorded data, add and edit GPX metadata, edit waypoint, route and track properties, all with real-time preview.
Calc solar radiation on walls and roofs of a 3d city model
This project will enable users to import 3d city models and calculate potential solar radiation on the 3d surfaces. That includes walls and roofs. The solar radiation does take care of shading effects caused by the surrounding buildings.
ThanDxflib is a library, written in Fortran 77, which makes the creation of .dxf drawings easy. The dxf files may be read by any CAD program.
OpenCPN: A concise ChartPlotter/Navigator. A cross-platform ship-borne GUI application supporting * GPS/GPDS Postition Input * BSB Raster Chart Display * S57 Vector ENChart Display * AIS Input Decoding * Waypoint Autopilot Navigation
Python module for various GPS time conversions.
Global Land Use and technological Evolution Simulator.
QNetMap is the library for displaying the map and the objects on it
The project has moved to GitHub (see https://github.com/vasyutin/qnetmap). The project is based on the QMapControl library (http://qmapcontrol.sourceforge.net/) by Kai Winter. To show the map QNetMap can use different providers like OpenStreetMap or other WMS servers. The map data can be downloaded from the Internet or from the disk cache. User's own raster maps can also be used. QNetMap supports layers so you can mix maps from different servers. To enrich the map presentation you can draw your own objects in the given coordinates. The development of the library was supported by "Sintels" LLC (ЗАО "Синтелс" - http://sintels.ru) and OJSC "T8" (ОАО "Т8" - https://t8.ru). Written by Sergey Shumeyko and Sergey Vasyutin.
a free and open map of wireless communicating objects
openBmap collects data and provides open maps and statistics of all communicating objects: cellular antennas, wifi hotspots. All softwares from back-end to client are open-source under AGPL v3 license.
That project aims at providing a clean service API, and the corresponding C++ implementation, for freely available geographical-based services on the Internet (e.g., GeoIP service by the GPL-based software77 database, Yahoo! GeoPlanet, etc.).
GIMED is a metadata editor for geospatial data. It is focused on providing compliant metadata with the ISO19139 standard and INSPIRE directive.
GpsPrune is a java application to view and manage coordinate data, eg from GPS units. With it you can load a variety of text and Xml formats, view the data (in 2d and 3d), edit and convert the data, correlate photos and audio, create charts and more.

Application to browse and visualize your GPS files
Desktop application for browsing and visualizing GPS files on your local storage or on network. * Quickly navigate your GPS files using embedded file/track/metadata browser * Works with gpx, kml, and csv files * Show overview map of all tracks in directory * Filter tracks in browser based on metadata, location, and path * Color code track overview based on metadata, e.g., overall distance, start time * Simultaneously view one or more tracks on map while graphing detailed metadata (e.g., speed, elevation, hill gradient) * Quickly determine distance and duration for portions of tracks by mousing or dragging in the graph. Use this to see exactly how different routes compare in time and distance Written in WxPython+Matplotlib. Windows executable available; Mac and Linux can be run via script.
a space-time interpolation geostatistical tool
This software is a time-aware geostatistical tool. Including time variability adds further issues to the already complicated field of geostatistical interpolation. On the other hand, most of the distributions of variables used in Earth and environmental sciences show patterns of change over time, not only in space. This tool is a free, open-source software, based on a generalization of the Inverse Distance Weighted algorithm. It outputs three-dimensional, layered discrete models from which time series and equal-time GIS Grid layers can be extracted.
National University Community Research Institute's NU KEEPERRHHATT Algorithmic Framework is a series of meta-algorithms based upon the Longest Hamiltonian Path Problem for finding high level explanations to social, economic and political behaviour.
DIVA-GIS is a geographical information system to analyze plant biodiversity data. It was developed at the International Potato Center (CIP) to help curate it's genebank data; additional support was subsequently obtained from IPGRI.
