SAGA - System for Automated Geoscientific Analyses - is a Geographic Information System (GIS) software with immense capabilities for geodata processing and analysis. SAGA is programmed in the object oriented C++ language and supports the implementation of new functions with a very effective Application Programming Interface (API). Functions are organised as modules in framework independent Module Libraries and can be accessed via SAGA’s Graphical User Interface (GUI) or various scripting environments (shell scripts, Python, R, ...). Please provide the following reference in your work if you are using SAGA: Conrad, O., Bechtel, B., Bock, M., Dietrich, H., Fischer, E., Gerlitz, L., Wehberg, J., Wichmann, V., and Boehner, J. OpenJUMP is a community driven fork of JUMP the "Java Unified Mapping Platform" GIS software. The original JUMP was developed by Vivid Solutions, released under GPL2 in 2003 and discontinued in 2006. During 2004 already some enthusiastic developers joined together to enhance further the features of JUMP. They launched an independent development branch called OpenJUMP. The name gives credit to the original JUMP development, and at the same time describes the objectives of this project to be fully open to anyone wanting to contribute. These days OpenJUMP is developed and maintained by (some few) volunteers around the globe. If you need functionality or even better want to contribute you are very welcome to contact us at our mailing list.
Load, modify and save your GPX 1.1 files. Add and remove waypoints, edit track and routes, simplify tracks (reducing file's size), clean recorded data, add and edit GPX metadata, edit waypoint, route and track properties, all with real-time preview.
OpenCPN: A concise ChartPlotter/Navigator. A cross-platform ship-borne GUI application supporting * GPS/GPDS Postition Input * BSB Raster Chart Display * S57 Vector ENChart Display * AIS Input Decoding * Waypoint Autopilot Navigation
Viking is a free/open source program to manage GPS data. You can import, plot and create tracks, routes and waypoints, show OSM, Bing Aerial and other maps, geotag images, see real-time GPS position (not in Windows), make maps using Mapnik (not in Windows), control items, etc. It is written in mostly in C (with some C++) & the GTK+2 toolkit.
Converts Google Earth KML file to a CSV file, and vice versa. This enables you to plot all custom POIs with Google Earth first before transferring them into your Garmin GPS using the POI Loader.
S-GeMS is a software for 3D geostatistical modeling. It implements many of the classical geostatistics algorithms, as well as new developments made at Stanford University. See http://sgems.sourceforge.net
** This site is of historical interest only. The project is active on www.gpsbabel.org and github. Some of the county/state files remain active, but no version of GPSBabel should be downloaded from this site. ** GPSBabel reads, writes, and manipulates GPS waypoints in a variety of formats. Over 100 supported formats include GPX, Magellan and Garmin serial and USB protocols, Geocaching *.loc, Garmin Mapsource, and Magellan Mapsend. For Windows, Linux, Mac.
OTB is an open-source C++ library for remote sensing images processing
The Orfeo Toolbox is a C++ library for high resolution remote sensing image processing. It is developped by CNES in the frame of the ORFEO program. More information is available at www.orfeo-toolbox.org It is based on the medical image processing library ITK and offers particular functionalities for remote sensing image processing in general and for high spatial resolution images in particular. Targeted algorithms for high resolution optical images (SPOT, Quickbird, Worldview, Landsat, Ikonos), hyperspectral sensors (Hyperion) or SAR (TerraSarX, ERS, Palsar) are available. Orfeo ToolBox has three main access depending on the category of user: write processing chains in C++ using existing filters or creating new ones, use the OTB applications, which is a plugin-based framework allowing to extend high-level processing chains from various environment ( command-line, QT, QGis, Python....) or use Monteverdi, a software for everyday life image manipulation and analysis.
Geoblock is a program for 3D modeling, database management and visualization of geoscience datasets. It is developed for mineral deposit exploration, ore reserve estimation, mine planning and simulating geotechnical processes in mine sites.
surfit is an open source and free gridding and contouring software. surfit can do interpolation/approximation of points, contours and surfaces, can take fault lines and trend surfaces into account, can use inequalities and other conditions. Supports a lo
openModeller is a complete C++ framework for species potential distribution modelling. The project also includes a graphical user interface, a web service interface and an API for Python.
This program views calibrated bitmap maps (moving maps) on PocketPC/WinCE platform. Additionaly it supports using GPS device to retrieve user position and show it (with other marks) in map - making it very handy for geocaching.
JCT draws and edits thematic maps in Java. Primarily intended to geography teachers and their pupils.
Geospatial analysis and visualization environment for Delphi.
PAGC is a command line and web service C library for performing postal address geocoding. A postal address geocoder takes a sufficiently detailed postal addresses and produces a digital map that displays the spatial location of those addresses.
WW2D allows you to explore Earth using satellite imagery, topographic maps and image from other data sources also providing large placenames and boundaries database and allowing you to install community-made add-ons for even more info about our planet.
AVPython embeds the Python programming language within ArcView GIS 3.x. This project will also encompass efforts to build a similar bridge between Python and ArcObjects. An integrated, redistributable Python / PyWin32 setup wizard is also published here.
DIVA-GIS is a geographical information system to analyze plant biodiversity data. It was developed at the International Potato Center (CIP) to help curate it's genebank data; additional support was subsequently obtained from IPGRI.
The Openstreetmap client can be used to access the map data of the Openstreetmap project without using a browser. The user can browse the maps, save the maps on his local PC.
An easy-to-use tool, to foster a model driven architecture.
A fast, high-precision GIS projection utility which reads and writes shapefiles and supports Canadian NTv2 datum transformation along with lat/long, Transverse Mercator, and Double Stereographic projections.
