The PDL module gives standard perl the ability to COMPACTLY store and SPEEDILY manipulate the large N-dimensional data sets that are the bread and butter of scientific computing.
Astronomy CCD capture software
A CCD capture software intended for the amateur astronomer. It include all the features required to perform digital imaging CCD observation of celestial objects. Using the standard drivers protocol INDI and ASCOM it can connect and control the CCD camera, the focuser, the filter wheel and the telescope mount. This software is part of a full suite for astronomical observation: https://sourceforge.net/projects/skychart/ https://sourceforge.net/projects/indistarter/ https://sourceforge.net/projects/eqmodgui/ Requirement: https://sourceforge.net/projects/libpasastro/ See also: https://sourceforge.net/projects/indi/
ORSA is an interactive tool for scientific grade Celestial Mechanics computations. Asteroids, comets, artificial satellites, Solar and extra-Solar planetary systems can be accurately reproduced, simulated, and analyzed.
Linux modified webcam capture software for astronomy. This project is a fork from the great Qastrocam, written by F. Sicard (http://qastrocam.sourceforge.net/). It adds some features I wrote for myself.
Astrophoto image & video processor. Full cycle with new technology
Astronomy program for selecting, viewing, aligning and stacking images. Creates 16-bit AVI gray/color video files from images series, concatenates videos together into one video file. The program helps to rebuild sequences of images and restore continuous order of files after they were edited, deleted, renamed or moved. PGMania converts images from one format to another. Supports batch converting operations, also for image sequences. Image formats can be any of well known image formats 8/16/32 bpp b/w/c. The program aligns and fits the pairs of images or image series, with each other or over master, calibrates them in pairs. Program detects stars and get stars statistics. Calculates fwhm, snr and star magnitudes. Image editor with alive histogram, contrast stretching, filters, evaluates and post process. XML and txt logging of all actions and results. *) PGMania uses original algorithm for image calibration. No need for dark & bias files for calibration and fit images.
A graphical representation of the night sky for Linux/KDE.
ASCOM driver for the LittleFoot Elegance Photo (LFEP) telescope controller. Firmware 6.x is fully supported - firmware 5.x is partially supported (all LFEP features are available but configuration is only possible by handbox). Contains drivers for telescope, focuser, camera, filter wheel, roof controller and dew heater which shares a single connection to the controller.
Space Science library for Python - contains superposed epoch classes, drift shell tracing, access to magnetic field models, streamline tracing, bootstrap confidence limits, time and coordinate conversions, etc.
This library is a Fortran 95 gnuplot interface for some Unix like OS'es. This provides some routines that enables direct access of a child gnuplot session from a Fortran 95 program. You will need a copy of fortranposix to make this work.
Astrophotographing with Arduino and Linux
Astroduino is a project for making hardware and software for controlling your telescope and stand using Arduino as controller. The end goal for this project is to support support astrophotographing using the Linux operating system as a foundation.
This is an application that computes the date and time in formats appropriate for astronomers - julian date, sidereal time, modified julian date, truncated julian date. Extremely accurate, includes correction for apparent sidereal time.
A java 3d simple virtual celestial globe. Source code available
A simple java 3d virtual celestial globe. Rotate the globe, magnify it, select the level of detail to show stars and constellations, and the ecliptic. Source code available to everyone to modify it. C API to control NexStar compatible telescopes
This library implements the serial commands supported by the Celestron NexStar hand control (HC) and SkyWatcher/Orion SynScan HC. This applies to the Celestron: NexStar GPS, NexStar GPS-SA, NexStar iSeries, NexStar SE Series, NexStar GT, CPC, SLT, Advanced-VX, Advanced-GT, CGE, CGEM etc. SkyWatcher: EQ5, HEQ5, EQ6 (Pro), AZ-EQ5 GT, AZ-EQ6 GT, EQ8 etc. and the corresponding Orion mounts. Communication to the hand control is 9600 bits/sec, no parity and one stop bit via the RS-232 port on the base of the hand control. Communication can be established over TCP/IP if nexbridge is running on the computer connected to the telescope. To control network based telescopes nexbridge must be used on the remote site. https://sourceforge.net/projects/nexbridge/
2D Gravity simulator, including a simulation of the solar system
This application started out as a study of Newtonian physics, but evolved into a 2D simulation of the solar system. (Viewed from the south, because Jupiter just wouldn't be Jupiter without the great red spot.) The source code is available for developers who would like to make their own customizations and unique scenarios - like sending a black hole through the solar system. For the casual user, this program allows you to truly become familiar with the solar system. Flying a space ship with unlimited fuel, lots of dials to guide you to your destination, and one less dimension to worry about, you can experience the vast distances, enormous speeds and tremendous power of gravity first hand as you travel around the solar system. Yet you will find that space travel still require great skill and patience to master. However, it will also give you the context to understand these huge numbers when you read about space stories in the newspapers. A great tool to get kids interested in space too.
INDI C# Client
This project consist in a .NET/Mono assembly containing a simple INDI client and a WinForm that permits to connect to astronomical equipment INDI server, and to use drivers connected at it.
