ACRASH is an open implementation of the CRASH Monte-Carlo continuum radiative transfer scheme presented in Ciardi et al. 2001 and Maselli et al. 2003. This code solves the radiative transfer equation for any geometry in 3D using a Monte-Carlo scheme.
RFI detector and quality analysis for astronomical radio observations
The AOFlagger is a tool that can find and remove radio-frequency interference (RFI) in radio astronomical observations. The code has been highly optimized for speed and accuracy. It is used by default for the LOFAR radio telescope and thus is in productional stage. The software can run in a fully automated way, but a graphical interface is provided to analyse results and tweak the strategy. The preferred input file format is the Casa Measurement Set (MS) format. I believe that the AOFlagger is the best available flagger, both in terms of accuracy and speed. It has been succesfully used on several interferometric telescopes, including LOFAR, WSRT, VLA, GMRT, ATCA and MWA, and the single-dish telescopes Parkes and Arecibo 305m. Besides the flagger, the software consists of tools to efficiently visualize data in different ways, such as plotting time-frequency diagrams and power spectra. It provides the programs rficonsole, rfigui, aoqplot, aoquality and more.

Aciqra is a virtual planetarium and sky mapping program which tracks celestial bodies including planets, deep sky objects and stars to an accuracy of a fraction of a degree for thousands of years into both the future and the past. It includes the 2.5 million stars of the Tycho-2 catalog supplemented by data of 120,000 stars from the Hipparcos catalog, 13,000 deep space objects from the NGC and IC catalogs and a large number of asteroids and comets from the Minor Planet Center. The program is platform-independent and can be made to work on most modern computers that support OpenGL.

Calculates and plots Colour Magnitude Diagrams from Astronomical data
CMD Plot Tool calculates and plots Colour Magnitude Diagrams (CMDs) from astronomical photometric data, e.g. of a star cluster observed in two filter bandpasses. It can handle multiple file formats (plain text, DAOPHOT .mag files, ACS Survey of Galactic Globular Clusters .zpt files) to generate professional and customised plots, without the usual steep learning curve. Development using Python, OOP and a formal software development lifecycle model (Agile) allowed for the creation of an application that can be deployed on multiple systems. It works “out of the box” and does not require any installation of development environments, additional libraries or resetting of system paths. The tool is available as a single application/executable file, with the source code, on Sourceforge. Sample data is also bundled, to demonstrate its complete functionality to users. Other functionality within this application is the ability to convert DAOPHOT magnitude files to CSV format.

Sight Reduction for Air Navigation with Python
This Python TK application calculates a good set of stars for a 3 star fix, makes all calculations similar to the FAAs Celestial Computation Sheet (see FAA doc FAA-H-8083-18). Also, you can create a PDF file that generates Pub 249 Vol 1 for any epoch you specify. The PUB249 as PDF is found under "Files". I wrote this for my aircraft bubble octant :-) It is mainly useful for air navigation as it assumes a bubble sextant but may be used for normal sextants as well. Requires Ephem and ReportLab (optional for PDF output) Not to be used for real-world navigation!
