A GUI for OCR programs.

A simple GUI frontend for scanning documents into PDF format. Utilizes scanimage, ps2pdf, pnmflip, and pnmtops commands. Automatically detects scanners avaliable on system. Developed on Linux but might work on other platforms with some tweaking.

SwingSane is a powerful, cross platform, open source Java front-end for using Scanner Access Now Easy (SANE) back-ends. The most powerful feature is its ability to query back-ends for scanner specific options which can be set by the user as a scanner profile. It also has support for authentication, mutlicast DNS discovery, simultaneous scan jobs, image transformation jobs (deskew, binarize, crop, etc), PDF and PNG output. It can also be integrated with your own Java application.

Scanner Copier scans multiple pages in Windows and prints them as a single document. This can be used in conjunction with PDFCreator in order to make PDF files from scanned documents similar to other 'scan to PDF' software.

SIPC (Scanner ICC Profile Creator) is an open source application to create colour ICC profiles for scanners using popular IT 8.7 (ISO 12641) targets. SIPC uses an open source ICC compatible colour management system - Argyll.

unpaper is a post-processing tool for scanned sheets of paper, especially for book-pages scanned from previously created photocopies. unpaper tries to remove dark edges, corrects the rotation ("deskew"), and aligns the centering of pages.

scanbd is a scanner button daemon. It polls the scanner buttons looking for buttons pressed or function knob changes or other scanner events as paper inserts / removals and at the same time allows also scan-applications to access the scanners. If buttons are pressed, etc., various actions can be submitted (scan, copy, email, ...) via action scripts. The function knob values are passed to the action-scripts as well. Scan actions are also signaled via dbus. This can be useful for foreign applications. Scans can also be triggered via dbus from foreign applications. On platforms which support signaling of dynamic device insertion / removal (libudev, dbus, hal) scanbd supports this as well. scanbd can use all sane-backends or some special backends from the (old) scanbuttond project. This project was used to develop an OS-independent driver for the CanoScan FB630U flatbed scanner in the form of a backend for the SANE package. Since integration with the SANE project in 2002, there has been no activity here.

Backend to control HP Scanjet 3900 series scanners in linux (hp3800, hp3970, hp4070, hp4370 and those which use RTS8822 chipset). Written in C, using libusb libraries, it runs as stand-alone application and integrated in SANE project.

Scan It project was created to facilitate and ease document scanning from web browsers. The project is built with C# as a backend, HTML as frontend and plenty of open source libraries. Akshara Malayalam OCR is a project for the development of an OCR for printed and handwritten documents in Malayalam language. The inspiration is from similar OCR softwares in other languages etc.

This is a driver for the Artec AS6E parallel port scanner. It now can be run through a SANE interface, or as a stand-alone program. Version 0.4 scans pretty well in all modes, and at all hardware resolutions. It works in EPP, PS/2, and SPP modes.

Handles capture, decoding, formatting and output of data scanned from a CueCat scanner. It can monitor scanner input into any running application, re-format it, and output it back to the active application automatically. Output can include any keystroke.

This is an attempt to create a neat backend for CIS scanners, based on LM9832 ASIC. Currently it supports only one scanner, TravelScan 660 from Syscan.

This is the repository for experimental driver code for Canon 1220U scanner. See CVS for actual code. canon is for Linux utility. ucanoscan is for FreeBSD. As of long ago the desired functionality has been available as part of SANE project.
