    Jekyll Picture Tag

    Jekyll Picture Tag

    Easy responsive images for Jekyll

    My life just got a lot busier; I'd really like a maintainer or two to help. I'm not abandoning JPT, I just don't have a ton of time to put into hacking on it. If you've been learning Ruby and you want to move beyond tutorials and throwaway projects, I'd love to hear from you. I'd be happy to help you gain experience and credibility, if you're willing to help me maintain this project! It's simple to throw a photo on a page and call it a day, but doing justice to users on all different browsers and devices is tedious and tricky. ...

    Resque

    Resque

    Ruby library for creating background jobs and processing them

    ...Resque (pronounced like "rescue") is a Redis-backed library for creating background jobs, placing those jobs on multiple queues, and processing them later. Background jobs can be any Ruby class or module that responds to perform. Your existing classes can easily be converted to background jobs or you can create new classes specifically to do work. Or, you can do both. Resque is heavily inspired by DelayedJob (which rocks) and comprises three parts, a Ruby library for creating, querying, and processing jobs, a Rake task for starting a worker which processes jobs, a Sinatra app for monitoring queues, jobs, and workers. Resque workers can be distributed between multiple machines, support priorities, are resilient to memory bloat / "leaks," are optimized for REE (but work on MRI and JRuby), tell you what they're doing, and expect failure.

    Aws::Record

    Aws::Record

    ...More features will be added as we approach general availability, and while our initial release has as small of an API surface area as possible, the interface may change before the GA release. vcr

    vcr

    Record your test suite's HTTP interactions and replay them

    ...VCR will replay the response from iana.org when the HTTP request is made. This test is now fast (no real HTTP requests are made anymore), deterministic (the test will continue to pass, even if you are offline, or iana.org goes down for maintenance) and accurate (the response will contain the same headers and body you get from a real request). You can use a different cassette library directory (e.g., "test/vcr_cassettes"). The recorded requests and responses are stored on disk in a serialization format of your choice (currently YAML and JSON are built in, and you can easily implement your own custom serializer) and can easily be inspected and edited.

    will_paginate

    will_paginate

    Pagination library for Rails, Sinatra, Merb, DataMapper, and more

    will_paginate is a pagination library that integrates with Ruby on Rails, Sinatra, Hanami::View, Merb, DataMapper and Sequel. See installation instructions on the wiki for more info. A Sinatra app needs a couple of extra requires. For Padrino apps you need to manually register the Sinatra extension. Alternatively, you can avoid manual will_paginate install by using Padrino recipes. will_paginate 3.0+ will not work on Rails 2. In an older version of Rails, you'll have to use will_paginate 2.3. For Rails 2.0 or older, a simple require will suffice.

    Mobility

    Mobility

    Pluggable Ruby translation framework

    Mobility is a gem for storing and retrieving translations as attributes on a class. These translations could be the content of blog posts, captions on images, tags on bookmarks, or anything else you might want to store in different languages. Storage of translations is handled by customizable "backends" which encapsulate different storage strategies. The default way to store translations is to put them all in a set of two shared tables, but many alternatives are also supported, including translatable columns and model translation tables, as well as database-specific storage solutions such as json/jsonb and Hstore (for PostgreSQL).

    httparty

    httparty

    Makes http fun again!

    ...If the response Content Type is application/json, HTTParty will parse the response and return Ruby objects such as a hash or array. The default behavior for parsing JSON will return keys as strings. This can be supressed with the format option. In some cases you may want to skip SSL verification, because the entity that issued the certificate is not a valid one, but you still want to work with it. Unless you have specific requirements otherwise, we recommend to not set set the Accept-Encoding header on HTTParty requests.

    Pedestal

    Pedestal

    The Pedestal Server-side Libraries

    ...There are a lot of tools in that space, so why did we build Pedestal? We had two main reasons. Pedestal is designed for APIs first. Most web app frameworks still focus on the "page model" and server-side rendering. Pedestal lets you start simple and add that if you need it. Pedestal makes it easy to create "live" applications. Applications must respond with immediate feedback even while some back-end communication goes on. Pedestal makes it easy to deliver server-sent events and asynchronous updates. Pedestal works with a huge variety of containers and deployment options. ...

    Whenever

    Whenever

    Cron jobs in Ruby

    Whenever (javan/whenever) is a Ruby gem that provides a clean, Ruby DSL for defining and managing cron jobs within your application. Rather than editing system cron tables by hand, you describe scheduled tasks in a schedule.rb file using methods like every, runner, command, or rake. The gem then compiles this schedule into a standard crontab format and installs it for you, handling all the necessary quoting, environment setup, and command path resolution. It supports specifying execution contexts, output redirection, and interval offsets (e.g., “every 5 minutes between 9-5 on weekdays”). ...
