Maps an HTTP request to a set of configuration variables
When your application receives a request, it calls a controller action to generate the response. The routing configuration defines which action to run for each incoming URL. It also provides other useful features, like generating SEO-friendly URLs (e.g. /read/intro-to-symfony instead of index.php?article_id=57). ...You can get good performance by using an appropriate application design (that is not massively overengineered) and still retain the flexibility of keeping everything in PHP. A URI is dispatched by calling the dispatch() method of the created dispatcher. This method accepts the HTTP method and a URI. Getting those two bits of information (and normalizing them appropriately) is your job.
