Lux
The Lux Programming Language
Lux is a new programming language in the making. It's meant to be a functional, statically-typed Lisp that will run on several platforms, such as the Java Virtual Machine and JavaScript, Python, Lua, or Ruby interpreters. Lux is in the beta stage. The JVM compiler is pretty stable and the standard library has grown to a respectable size. Also, new experimental support for JavaScript, Python, Lua, and Ruby has been added. Read carefully before using this project, as the license disallows commercial use, and has other conditions which may be undesirable for some. The language is mostly inspired by the following 3 languages. Clojure (syntax, overall look & feel), Haskell (functional programming), and Standard ML (module system). They are implemented as plain-old data-structures whose expressions get eval'ed by the compiler and integrated into the type-checker. The main difference between Lux & Standard ML is that Standard ML separates interfaces/signatures and implementations/structures. -

NEWS: The MPL language is now completely defined. No more language changes are to be made. The compiler is complete and should be easy to translate to other languages if you so choose. MPL is a small, simple language based on BCPL, B, C and Jesusonic. The compiler and interpreter are written in portable Pascal. I have successfully compiled MPL for CP/M, DOS, Windows, Atari ST, Amiga and the Tandy Colour Computer. MPL is designed to be tiny in every way, while implementing all the important features of BCPL & B. The result is a compiler written in a high level language (PASCAL) which compiles to under 16K (CP/M). The symbol table, language syntax, and bytecode are all optimized for size. I will write a MPL Reference Manual in time. Contact myself if you want to help get that written. -

OK? is a modern, dynamically typed programming language created with a strong opinion: to remove needless complexity and help programmers write code that matters. It eliminates many common language features (e.g., ternary operators) in favour of a consistent, minimal syntax: for example it uses only switch statements for control flow and has only one comparison operator. OK? also treats errors as plain values (strings/arrays) and removes inheritance in favour of what it calls “evolution over composition.” The language emphasises readability and pushing logic out into functions so cases remain simple. It includes concurrency via a map function that executes callbacks in parallel. The project is illustrative of Duffield’s vision: code should feel “magical to write” by removing what is unnecessary. -

SC
SC is a C based meta/programming language/environment
SC is a C based/compatible language that uses a binary source code format and a "special" editor to provide a far more advanced programming and meta-programming environment. The basic philosophy is to "simplify" the "form" and not the "meaning" of C. SC allows you to write source code that can analyze and modify itself. Which in turn allows you to create far more compact and powerful libraries, templates, toolkits and simply source code, using techniques similar to aspect and/or language oriented programming. SCEdit is an editor that comprehends the source code on a level similar to the compiler, giving you feedback about anything that can be concluded from the source code. It can also interpret meta-functions from the source code to either analyze, modify or create new code, allowing you to automate a complex workflow for and from your source code. Furthermore SC can be both compiled, interpreted, and just in time compiled. -

A new system programming language designed to occupy the same niche C is currently holding, that allows for easier development of large platform-independent systems. The aims are to: * Keep all of C's system programming strengths. * Be as efficient as C (at run-time) and as high-level as possible for the programmer. * Promote modularity and ease the development of large-scale component-based software. * Enable programming-by-contract and other high-level features (as long as they incur no extraordinary costs at run-time). * Provide a stricter and more platform-independent type system than C. * Allow direct use of existing C and platform (e.g. Win32 API) libraries. This phrase from the "SPL Language Reference" says it all: "One could say SPL is what C should have been, were it not for the limitations of the time when C was designed". -
