    Surya

    Surya

Implementation of the Surya Foundation Model for Heliophysics

...Named after the Sanskrit word for “sun,” Surya is trained on nine years of high‑resolution solar imagery from NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO). It is designed to forecast solar phenomena—such as flares, solar wind, irradiance, and active region behavior—by predicting future solar images with a sophisticated long–short vision transformer architecture, thereby enabling improved space weather forecasting. Foresees solar flares, wind, EUV spectra, and active region formation in advance. Achieves approximately 16% improvement in forecasting accuracy over traditional methods. 366-million‑parameter foundation model capturing general-purpose solar representations.

Application simulates the incipience of laser radiation

The dynamics of the population of energy levels and the power of stimulated radiation in laser amplifying media is modeled by solving a system of rate equations. The application was developed for students to explain the time dependence of laser power they observed. The material constants of the active medium of the laser used are specified in the configuration file. The application allows you to interactively select the pump speed and quality factor of the resonator by observing the time dependencies of the inverse population and laser radiation power.

    RSS - Radial Stretching System

OpenSource radial stretching system for the scientific community

The rapid and efficient development of soft active materials requires readily available, compact testing equipment. We propose a desktop-sized, cost-efficient, and open source radial stretching system as an alternative to commercially available biaxial and uniaxial stretching devices. It allows for doubling the diameter of an elastomer membrane while measuring the applied force.

MSP: a 3D flocking boids simulator

MSP: a 3D flocking boids simulator

A highly flexible 3D flocking boids simulator, conceived as a tool for

This project concerns the design and implementation of an open-source flocking boids simulator, designed as a tool to analyze and characterize flock-like collective emerging behaviors. Each boid is conceived as an active agent and modelled by a point-mass approximation. Boid movements in a 3D space are guided by a set of elementary steering behaviors, each implemented as a force acting on the boid's point mass. Each boid is affected by interactions with both the environment and other boids. The set of considered behaviors are inspired by the well-known approach introduced in 1987 by C. ...
