    Metric Collector

A bash-Script to collect metrics from a Linux system.

Collects server and java process information from various tools and creates charts with the data. The script was tested on GNU/Linux with gnuplot 4.4. For the script to work you have to set the variable "JAVA_HOME" to a valid JDK location. Check the documentation in the script file. The following information gets collected: >> output from vmstat >> netstat tcp states and established connections >> information from /proc/fd >> jstat -gc output >> jstat -class output >> CPU%, MEM% and ThreadCount from top and ps-command >> disk usage for each mounted device from df-command

    OpenResty SystemTap Toolkit

    OpenResty SystemTap Toolkit

Real-time analysis and diagnostics tools for OpenResty

The openresty-systemtap-toolkit is a collection of SystemTap-based scripts designed for real-time analysis and diagnostics of OpenResty and its core components, including NGINX, LuaJIT, and ngx_lua. It provides developers and system administrators with tools to trace performance bottlenecks, memory usage, request distribution, regex execution, Lua execution, and file I/O behaviors in production systems. The toolkit helps identify leaks, analyze TCP queues, inspect shared memory usage, and generate flame graphs for CPU and off-CPU profiling. Many scripts are specific to NGINX worker and master processes, while others are generic enough to be applied to any Linux user-space process. Although the toolkit is no longer actively maintained—development has shifted to OpenResty XRay—it remains a valuable set of examples and utilities for advanced users of OpenResty and NGINX.

    RSpec Rails

    RSpec Rails

    RSpec for Rails 5+

RSpec Rails brings the RSpec testing framework to Ruby on Rails as a drop-in alternative to its default testing framework, Minitest. In RSpec, tests are not just scripts that verify your application code. They’re also specifications (or specs, for short): detailed explanations of how the application is supposed to behave, expressed in plain English. RSpec follows semantic versioning, which means that “major version” upgrades (e.g., 2.x → 3.x) come with breaking changes. If you’re upgrading from version 2.x or below, read the rspec-rails upgrade notes to find out what to watch out for. In RSpec, assertions are called expectations, and every expectation is built around a matcher. When you expect(a).to eq(b), you’re using the eq matcher. RSpec Rails defines ten different types of specs for testing different parts of a typical Rails application. Each one inherits from one of Rails’ built-in TestCase classes, meaning the helper methods provided by default in Rails tests are available.

    SPL Tools

    SPL Tools

Stochastic Performance Logic testing tools and utilities.

Stochastic Performance Logic (SPL) serves for capturing performance assumptions. With SPL, it is possible to annotate Java functions with assumptions stating, for example, that the annotated function is at most three times slower than array copying. The assumption is then checked at build time in a similar way as standard unit testing. In other words, SPL is about introducing performance assert(). The advantage of SPL in comparison with other similar solutions includes following. SPL formulas uses well-defined logic and statistically sound testing (such as t-test). Next, SPL is aimed at automatic evaluation. And finally, SPL formulas uses relative comparisons (opposed to comparing against fixed time) to provide better portability.

    SarBox

SarBox helps user to parse or analyze sar data

The software program (SarBox) parses and analyzes SAR data in charts or text formats. SAR is cumulative activity counters in the operating system. It is the most comprehensive command which helps to monitor performance of various Linux / Solaris subsystems (CPU, Memory, I/O, Disk, Network, etc) all in same log. This makes it difficult to analyze since every counter data is dumped into the log file. SarBox helps to analyze this log file and present data in graphical charts or text format. To collect sar statistics from an environment, use below syntax [user@host ~]# sar -A 30 2 > sar_linux.log “30 2” reports for every 30 seconds and total of 2 times, written in sar_linux.log.

    TCPCopy

    TCPCopy

An online request replication tool, also a tcp stream replay tool

TCPCopy is a TCP stream replay tool to support real testing of Internet server applications. Although the real live flow is important for the test of Internet server applications, it is hard to simulate it as online environments are too complex. To support more realistic testing of Internet server applications, we develop a live flow reproduction tool - TCPCopy, which could generate the test workload that is similar to the production workload. Currently, TCPCopy has been widely used by companies in China. TCPCopy has little influence on the production system except occupying additional CPU, memory and bandwidth. Moreover, the reproduced workload is similar to the production workload in request diversity, network latency and resource occupation. TCPCopy consists of two parts, TCPCopy and intercept. While TCPCopyruns on the online server and captures the online requests, intercept runs on the assistant server and does some assistant work, such as passing response info to TCPCopy.
