When using npm, if you have 100 projects using lodash, you will have 100 copies of lodash on disk. With pnpm, lodash will be stored in a content-addressable storage. Files inside node_modules are cloned or hard-linked from a single content-addressable storage. pnpm has built-in support for multiple packages in a repository. pnpm creates a non-flat node_modules by default, so code has no access to arbitrary packages.
