DIY-EFIS is a project to develop an open-source EFIS for experimental aircraft. The system comprises source code written in C++. The primary flight display has been migrated to using CANaerospace as the data feed for the system. This is currently being tested using a prototype AHRS and EDU for a lycoming engine. The code is written to use a Lawicel CANUSB interface for the data feed and is working on Windows and Windows CE although only a target project for Windows is provided due to the licening issues around Windows CE. WebApps and native Apps for aircraft performance
WebApps/Apps for aircraft performance. POH Performance computes all the useful performance numbers for flight planning for the Socata TBM, the Beechcraft Baron and Bonanza, and the Cessna 172 aircraft. It includes calculations for takeoff, landing, climb, cruise, descent, instrument procedures as well as emergencies. It also includes an interactive hold calculator, a risk analysis tool, and an emergency glide distance calculator that handles head and tailwinds. POH Performance is also available on other mobile devices and as a WebApp (an App that runs in a browser) that runs on a variety of platforms (PC, Mac, tablets, phones). The cloud sync feature allows flight planning profiles entered on any device to be synchronized with your other devices when connected to the Internet. POH Performance is a free, open-source development effort.
FAA digital chart viewer for iPhone and iPad
This project is for an iPhone/iPad viewer that is used to display FAA digital aviation charts. It also includes the support files necessary to prepare digital charts as downloadable tiles and a point of sale web site used by end users to obtain the charts. The viewer's features includes generating track points, which can be saved as GPX. The viewer can also be used to plot flights. The point of sale purchase system is Drupal based with a MySQL database. The remote device connects to the database using a Glassfish server and Jersey. This app has been available on Apple's iTunes App Store for over two years and has a 4+ star ratings. I have moved on to other things and while I've been maintaining it I'd like to see it continue to improve. That's is why I'm releasing it as an open source project.
