Testing images for scientific purposes
The TESTIMAGES archive is a huge and free collection of sample images designed for analysis and quality assessment of different kinds of displays and image processing techniques. The archive includes more than 2 million images originally acquired and divided in three different categories: SAMPLING and SAMPLING_PATTERNS (aimed at testing resampling algorithms), COLOR (aimed at testing color rendering on different displays) and PATTERNS (aimed at testing the rendering of standard geometrical patterns). Python script that produces a tight pdf from gnuplot with psfrag text.
Gnuplot is a widely known script based free plotting program. This script (gpt2pdf) makes it possible to generate pdf figures with 2D LaTeX maths on top of it by including psfrag replacements directly as comments in the gnuplot file. The resulting pdf file doesn't contain any extra white-spaces around it and as such can be comfortably included in any (pdf)LaTeX file. Requires: Python 2.4 - 2.7, LaTeX and the system commands ps2epsi and epstopdf which comes in with any ghostscript installation. An Open Question Answering Java System
JavaPARALEX is a Java version of the best known Paralex system developed by Fader et al. and described in their article "Paraphrase-Driven Learning for Open Question Answering". It has been developed to be part of the bigger PALMISANO project at La Sapienza University of Rome. It includes both a learning mode and a LIVE Question Answering mode. graphICs is a converter transforming GDS II-data to Asymptote-code
graphICs is used to visualize IC-layout-data from GDS II-files. It reads a stream of GDS II-records, optimizes it by removing objects smaller than a user-defined minimal size an writes it to Asymptote-code. This code can be translated via Asymptote to PDF, PNG or other formats. The output can be specified to be printed on an A-format paper, portrait or landscape, top/right, center or bottom/left align. To use graphICs you need to download the JAR-file containing the program (no installation needed) and the MAP-file containing the color-information for the design (you can modify it or you create your own). To create graphic or PDF-files you need to download Asymptote from asymptote.sourceforge.net. Look at http://sourceforge.net/p/graphicsic/wiki/Usage/ for the Usage.
