Fabio
Consul Load-Balancing made simple
Fabio is an HTTP and TCP reverse proxy that configures itself with data from Consul. Traditional load balancers and reverse proxies need to be configured with a config file. The configuration contains the hostnames and paths the proxy is forwarding to upstream services. This process can be automated with tools like consul-template that generate config files and trigger a reload. Fabio works differently since it updates its routing table directly from the data stored in Consul as soon as there is a change and without restart or reloading. When you register a service in Consul all you need to add is a tag that announces the paths the upstream service accepts, e.g. urlprefix-/user or urlprefix-/order and fabio will do the rest. Fabio was developed and maintained by Frank Schröder through January, 2020. Since that date primary maintenance has been the responsibility of ENA and the great community of users. -

ttl is a modern traceroute-style network diagnostic tool built to feel more like an interactive, real-time “mtr replacement” than a one-shot traceroute dump. It uses a full-screen terminal UI to continuously probe paths and refresh hop-by-hop measurements, which makes transient loss, jitter, and routing changes much easier to spot. The design emphasizes per-hop visibility with live statistics, and it enriches what you see by resolving network identity details like ASN and geolocation when available. It is also built for messy real-world routing, including multipath behavior, so it can probe with multiple flows and surface ECMP patterns instead of pretending there is only one stable route. The Pod network created by Kilo is always fully connected, even when the nodes are in different networks or behind NAT. By allowing pools of nodes in different locations to communicate securely, Kilo enables the operation of multi-cloud clusters. Kilo's design allows clients to VPN to a cluster in order to securely access services running on the cluster.
