dsl-watchdog is a set of scripts to check if there's faulty connectivity to internet on home networks using DSL routers and restart the connection or router if needed The user can use a config file to specify which hosts he wishes to ping and how much package loss is allowed. If the loss is greater than the configured value or 100%, the dsl-watchdog script will call the expect script "restartrouterdsl". At this moment the "restartrouterdsl" script is able to interact with two router models.

Falcon Time consists of two parts, a time server that will provide the base time for the network and an application library that is linked in to each application wishing to use the synchronized time from the time client. It is designed to work over a Local Area Network (LAN) and can synchronize time between two systems down to the time required for a ping between them or even below. Remote server monitoring application
...You do not need to install any applications on the monitoring servers, because Emon uses SSH and /proc directory to get the monitoring data. All you need to do is just configure Emon in XML and create an SSH user. After configuration, you are ready to monitor ping, dns, ports, url, CPU, RAM, SWAP, disk, traffic and log files of multiple servers in the terminal. If something goes wrong, Emon will send email to the admin. Emon is able to send the statistics (dropouts and graphs) to the admin. -
