ethflop is a DOS TSR that emulates a floppy disk drive. Such virtual floppy disk is, in fact, stored on a Linux server as a classic floppy image. All the communication between ethflop (the TSR) and ethflopd (the Linux daemon) is based on raw Ethernet. No need for any network configuration - the DOS PC only needs to have some kind of Ethernet adapter (physical or emulated, for example through PLIP) and a suitable packet driver.

selfDHCP is a small network autoconfigure software. It is able to determine the main network configuration parameters by listening to the traffic and with appropriate heuristics. It can run as daemon or as application.

systemd is a suite of basic building blocks for a Linux system. It provides a system and service manager that runs as PID 1 and starts the rest of the system. systemd provides aggressive parallelization capabilities, uses socket and D-Bus activation for starting services, offers on-demand starting of daemons, keeps track of processes using Linux control groups, maintains mount and automount points, and implements an elaborate transactional dependency-based service control logic. systemd supports SysV and LSB init scripts and works as a replacement for sysvinit.
