...Eacn line of source code is important. New developer of FFmpeg can learn FFmpeg's API through this software. It contains following project: simplest_ffmpeg_video_encoder: Simple Encoder. It uses libavcodec to encode video and uses libavformat to add container format to the video bitstream. simplest_ffmpeg_video_encoder_pure: Pure Encoder. It only uses libavcodec to encode video (without libavformat).

This is a revival of the old FFusion QuickTime component, updated through the Perian project and extracted from there by RJVB. It aims to be a decode-only codec leveraging FFmpeg to do the actual work. For now it is based on libavcodec v52, as is Perian; the goal is to port it to use the current libavcodec, and then to build it for win32 QuickTime. In hope it'll improve playback performance for mp4, h264, etc. files. The source is hosted on GitHub, the SourceForge project holds the resulting and required binaries.

FFmpeg is an audio/video conversion tool. It includes libavcodec, the leading open source codec library. An experimental streaming server for live broadcasts is also included.

This toolkit creates codec configuration files. The generated configuration file is meant to be read by transcodes plugins. Target codecs will be XviD and libavcodec, but further extension are planned.
