To create an open source and openly developed mmorpg
FOSSMMO (release name tbd) is a project aimed at two things. The first is to create an open sourced MMORPG with compelling and fun gameplay requiring modest system specs. The second is to develop in an open and well documented way to help others learn the trade of game programming.
FOSSMMO will be developed using python. While python is not a common language for game development I'm a fan. Also I recently watched http://pyvideo.org/video/381/pycon-2011--algorithmic-generation-of-opengl-geom...
The xVector Engine is a cross-platform 2D MMORPG engine written in Python. It will be a full-featured MMORPG engine allowing rapid game development without any programming knowledge, while still being easily extended with a Python scripting API.
This project will be a Age of Conan Emulator based on the Cell framework that is used by WCell and CellAO. We will use MySQL as our database engine and Csharp as our programminglanguage.
