Sysexy MIDI Librarian is a data dump utility for musicians and studio producers. A librarian program allows you to do "sysex dumps" to and from synthesizers, drum machines, effects processors, etc., and archive the data on a computer, containing sounds, configuration settings, sequences which can later be sent back to the originating equipment. This allows a computer to be used as data storage for musical instruments and studio gear.

The ALSA MIDI filter application runs as an ALSA MIDI client that can receive input from a source (such as a sound card hooked up to a MIDI keyboard), perform various filtering and other functionality based on the type and content of the MIDI input, and send the result to one or more other MIDI clients.

".ECW file" or "waveset" refers to a file with an extension of ".ECW" which stores articulation and sample data used by the MIDI synthesizer of sound cards equipped with an ES1370, ES1371, or ES1373 chip. These sound cards include the Ensoniq AudioPCI, the Sound Blaster! AudioPCI, the Sound Blaster! PCI64, the Sound Blaster! PCI128, and the Sound Blaster Live!. This project is a Perl script which can unpack these files into a .WAV sample, and a corresponding .SFZ file (an open format used by various sample engines to describe sample playback.)

midcat concatenates MIDI files to standard output. It also supports some MIDI file transformations and humanizing functions.

smf2rmid and rmid2smf are two com­mand line util­i­ties that let you con­vert be­tween SMF (Stan­dard MI­DI File) and RMID (RIFF MI­DI) for­mat. An RMID file is merely a wrapper around a Standard MIDI File; the original file is unmodified.
