Maxima -- GPL CAS based on DOE-MACSYMA

Maxima -- GPL CAS based on DOE-MACSYMA

Computer Algebra System written in Common Lisp

...It emphasizes symbolic mathematical computation: algebra, trigonometry, calculus, and much more. For example, Maxima solves x^2-r*x-s^2-r*s=0, giving the symbolic results [x=r+s, x=-s]. It can also calculate with exact integers and fractions, native floating-point, and high-precision big floats. Maxima has user-friendly front-ends, an online manual, plotting commands, and numerical libraries. It features its own programming language, and many users have contributed useful packages in various areas over the decades. It is GPL-licensed and largely written in Common Lisp. Executables can be downloaded for Windows, Mac, Linux, and Android; source code is also available. ...

    Rainflow

    Rainflow

Fast rainflow counting written in C (C99)

Rainflow Counting Algorithm (4-point-method), C99 compliant. "Rainflow Counting" consists of four main steps: 1. Hysteresis Filtering 2. Peak-Valley Filtering 3. Discretization 4. Four Point Counting Method: These steps are fully documented in standards such as ASTM E1049 "Standard Practices for Cycle Counting in Fatigue Analysis" [1]. This implementation uses the 4-point algorithm mentioned in [2].

    datadensityplot

Creates a data density plot of a 2 dimensional data distribution.

...The problem of showing data density visually is not mathematically well defined, and there are several methods. The program uses sum of reciprocal squared distance to calculate density at each point, with a smear factor to prevent points going to infinity. The smear factor also controls the amount of clustering. There are several options for colour output. Input is via a csv (comma-separated values) file. Now there's a nice GUI built in Baby X for Linux and Windows

    NKA

Nonlinear Krylov acceleration of fixed-point and Newton-like methods

Nonlinear Krylov Acceleration (NKA) is a method for accelerating the convergence of fixed-point (Picard) iterations. Many Newton-like and inexact Newton methods are fixed point iterations. The NKA project provides the canonical implementation of the method for several programming languages. The black-box accelerator is simple to integrate into existing code. Placed in the iteration loop, it observes the sequence of solution updates and replaces them with improved updates using information it has gleaned from previous solution iterates. ...

Tcl binding to levmar library implementing Levenberg-Marquardt optimization algorithm often used in data fitting. Levmartcl is a standard Tcl extension providing command interface to levmar functionality. This library is only a wrapper of <levmar> which actually performs the work. See the <levmar> home site for details: http://www.ics.forth.gr/~lourakis/levmar/
