    MiaoYan

    MiaoYan

Lightweight Markdown app to help you write great sentences

MiaoYan is a lightweight, native Markdown note-taking app for macOS, built to give programmers and writers a fast, distraction-free environment for text. It is fully local-first, meaning your notes live as plain Markdown files on your machine rather than in a proprietary cloud, which appeals to privacy-conscious users. The app focuses on a minimalist three-column layout (folders, note list, editor) with syntax highlighting, dark mode, and typography tuned for Chinese and English writing. Beyond basic editing, MiaoYan supports presentation and PPT-style modes, letting you turn Markdown documents into slide-like views directly inside the app. It also adds power-user features like automatic document typesetting, internal links, LaTeX math, Mermaid and PlantUML diagrams, and Markmap mind-map rendering. Under the hood, it is implemented in Swift as a native macOS application, which keeps it snappy and lighter than Electron-based note apps.

Paginate the HTML Output of R Markdown with CSS for Print

Paginate the HTML Output of R Markdown with CSS for Print. You only need a modern web browser (e.g., Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge) to generate PDF. No need to install LaTeX to get beautiful PDFs. This R package stands on the shoulders of two giants to support typesetting with CSS for R Markdown documents: Paged.js and ReLaXed (we only borrowed some CSS from the ReLaXed repo and didn't really use the Node package).

    Dillinger

    Dillinger

    The last Markdown editor, ever

Dillinger is a cloud-enabled, mobile-ready, offline-storage compatible, AngularJS-powered HTML5 Markdown editor. Markdown is a lightweight markup language based on the formatting conventions that people naturally use in email. The overriding design goal for Markdown's formatting syntax is to make it as readable as possible. The idea is that a Markdown-formatted document should be publishable as-is, as plain text, without looking like it's been marked up with tags or formatting instructions. Dillinger uses a number of open source projects to work properly. Dillinger uses Gulp + Webpack for fast developing. Make a change in your file and instantaneously see your updates! Dillinger is very easy to install and deploy in a Docker container.

    Inkdown

    Inkdown

A WYSIWYG Markdown editor, improve reading and editing experience

Inkdown (bluestone) is a Markdown reading, editing, and sharing tool. Almost fully compatible with the GitHub Flavored Markdown standard, while extending the Mermaid graphics and Katex formula, supporting light and dark styles, and somewhat different from other WYSIWYG editors, Inkdown does not pursue complete customization. Its core goal is comfortable reading, smooth editing of Markdown, and document sharing in the simplest way possible. As a document publisher, markdown source code mode is undoubtedly efficient and free, but as a note, it is not conducive to reading. The table element of markdown is not conducive to writing, and the double-column mode is not conducive to focusing, so the Inkdown Editor was developed. It combines rich text with markdown editing habits to help you record daily, and saves it in standard markdown format, which allows your notes to be used anywhere and backed up in any way.

    Crowbook

    Crowbook

Converts books written in Markdown to HTML, LaTeX/PDF and EPUB

Crowbook's aim is to allow you to write a book in Markdown without worrying about formatting or typography and let the program generate HTML, PDF and EPUB output for you. Its focus is novels and fiction, and the default settings should (hopefully) generate readable books with correct typography without requiring you to worry about it. To see what Crowbook's output looks like, you can read the Crowbook guide rendered in HTML, PDF or EPUB. Crowbook will parse this file and generate HTML, EPUB, and/or PDF output formats, according to the settings in the configuration file. Crowbook supports HTML, PDF and EPUB (either version 2 or 3) as output formats. See the Crowbook User Guide rendered in HTML, EPUB and PDF. Crowbook uses pulldown-cmark and thus should support most of CommonMark Markdown.

    Ink

    Ink

A fast and flexible Markdown parser written in Swift.

Ink is a fast and flexible Markdown parsing library written in Swift that is designed to convert Markdown content into structured representations suitable for rendering or further processing. Originally developed as part of the Publish ecosystem, it focuses on performance and extensibility while maintaining a relatively simple and understandable internal architecture. The parser operates by reading Markdown input through a structured reader system that processes fragments and determines how each section should be interpreted. It uses error handling as part of its control flow, allowing the parser to efficiently decide whether to advance or rewind when processing different Markdown constructs. Ink is intended to be both production-ready and developer-friendly, encouraging users to explore and extend its functionality as needed.

    Jupytext

    Jupytext

Jupyter Notebooks as Markdown Documents, Julia, Python or R scripts

Have you always wished Jupyter notebooks were plain text documents? Wished you could edit them in your favorite IDE? And get clear and meaningful diffs when doing version control? Then, Jupytext may well be the tool you’re looking for. Only the notebook inputs (and optionally, the metadata) are included. Text notebooks are well suited for version control. You can also edit or refactor them in an IDE - the .py notebook above is a regular Python file. Text notebooks with a .py or .md extension are well suited for version control. They can be edited or authored conveniently in an IDE. You can open and run them as notebooks in Jupyter Lab with a right click. However, the notebook outputs are lost when the notebook is closed, as only the notebook inputs are saved in text notebooks.

    Mark

    Mark

Sync your markdown files with Confluence pages

Mark, a tool for syncing your markdown documentation with Atlassian Confluence pages. This is very useful if you store documentation to your software in a Git repository and don't want to do the extra job of updating the Confluence page using a tinymce wysiwyg enterprise core editor which always breaks everything. Mark does the same but in a different way. Mark reads your markdown file, creates a Confluence page if it's not found by its name, uploads attachments, translates Markdown into HTML, and updates the contents of the page via REST API. It's like you don't even need to create sections/pages in your Confluence anymore, just use them in your Markdown documentation. Mark uses an extended file format, which, still being valid markdown, contains several HTML-ish metadata headers, which can be used to locate a page inside the Confluence instance and update it accordingly.

    Markdown

    WeChat Markdown Editor

WeChat Markdown Editor | A highly concise WeChat Markdown editor, that supports Markdown syntax, color palette selection, multi-image upload, one-click document download, custom CSS style, one-click reset, and other features. Markdown documents are automatically rendered into WeChat graphics and text in real-time, so you no longer have to worry about the typesetting of WeChat articles! As long as you know the basic Markdown syntax, you can make a simple and beautiful WeChat graphic. Chrome browser is recommended for best results. In addition, for domestic (China) friends, accessing Gitee Pages will be relatively faster. The existing open-source WeChat Markdown editor has complicated styles and does not meet my personal aesthetic needs. When I use them for article typesetting, I often have to make some changes myself, which is time-consuming and labor-intensive, so I did secondary development.

    Modular CSS Layout for Obsidian

    CSS Layout hack for Obsidian.md

This is a repository for modular CSS layout hacks for use with Obsidian.md. It's meant to complement/assist Community Theme, focusing solely on providing an alternative layout to standard width and standard top-bottom block view. I mainly do casual tests on select popular themes like ITS, Primary, Shimmering Focus, Prism, and Minimal. Need your help to let me know if there's anything not working right. Do log in to MCL GH Issue if you find anything not working properly. Modular CSS Layout (MCL) snippets are meant to provide useful layout options as a complement to the default theme or your chosen community theme. It focuses on working with Obsidian’s CSS classes and HTML structure to achieve the intended layout; which also means it won’t do any color-theme changes.
