    Astrape

    Optical-packet node transceiver frequency allocation

...This is facilitated in the appropriate lab equipment (or via simulation when required). For that purpose, a software agent (Netconf server) residing at the whiteboxes, is developed receiving input from the Software-Defined Networking (SDN) packet controller (PacketCTL - a Netconf client). Then, configuration of the local transceiver laser frequencies of the controlled pluggable devices takes place, for facilitating the connectivity in-between the ROADM network. Also, the agent records and reports back telemetry data (feedback) which is used by the PacketCTL's resource-allocating mechanism to improve efficiency within the network topology.

    SDN-Openflow-Controller-VMs

Controller VMs for students to learn SDN and Openflow

Pre-installed Open-source SDN/Openflow controller VMs available in VMware, Virtualbox, and Qemu formats. The available controllers are OpenDayLight, ONOS, Ryu, and Mininet. Mininet is essential, since it creates the openflow switch topologies, but it is possible to run its MiniEdit GUI, to use as a standalone VM.

..., provides a novel approach to dynamically provision the network fabric from a centralized softwarebased controller. An open SDN platform with centralized software provisioning delivers dramatic improvements in your network agility via programmability and automation, while substantially reducing the cost of your network operations. And using an industry standard data plane abstraction protocol like OpenFlow?, you are now free to use any type and brand of data plane devices, since all the underlying network hardware is addressable through a common abstraction protocol. ...

    JAM_OpenFlow

JAM is a multithreaded, scalable, performance focused OpenFlow controllr

SDN is one of the most innovative concepts in contemporary computer networking. SDN allows logical separation between forwarding and control planes, thereby providing built-in flexibility in developing and evolving network applications. Openflow is an instantiation of Software Defined Networking. It is a programmable network protocol that allows a controller to access and configure the forwarding plane of a switch or router.
