...The benchmark part shows that a context switch between coroutines only takes about 10 ns (in the case of the standalone stack) on the AWS c5d.large machine. User could choose to create a new coroutine with a standalone stack or with a shared stack (could be shared with others). It is extremely memory-efficient, 10,000,000 coroutines simultaneously to run cost only 2.8 GB physical memory (run with tcmalloc, each coroutine has a 120B copy-stack size configuration). The phrase "fastest" in above means the fastest context switching implementation which complies to the Sys V ABI of Intel386 or AMD64. -

Extended Memory Semantics (EMS) unifies synchronization and storage primitives to address several challenges of parallel programming. A modern multi-core server has 16-32 cores and nearly 1TB of memory, equivalent to an entire rack of systems from a few years ago. As a consequence, jobs formerly requiring a Map-Reduce cluster can now be performed entirely in shared memory on a single server without using distributed programming. -

TORO is demonstrating an innovative operating system by integrating at the same ring level both kernel and the user application server. The threads of the user application server are distributed evenly on all CPUs and running independently in parallel. The memory model chosen is NUMA without pagination. During the initialization, the memory is divided proportionally for each processor installed on the system.
