News flash: I've setup a github repository for future development/etc. https://github.com/hvisage/metalog/releases Metalog is a modern replacement for syslogd and klogd. The logged messages can be dispatched according to their facility, urgency, program name and/or Perl-compatible regular expressions. Log files can be automatically and safely rotated.

Esyslogd is an alternative to syslogd. Esyslogd is threaded and it provide an API to get log entries, allready parsed, by TCP/IP.

Logspooler is a simple UDP server that is receiving syslog messsages from another hosts and processing them. This means analysing and inserting into a MySQL database. Logspooler is not a syslogd replacement. Analyses are based on preconfigured tables.
