... is a derivative of the Apple Quicktime file format, so Bento4 can be used to read and write most Quicktime files as well. In addition to supporting ISO-MP4, Bento4 includes support for parsing and multiplexing H.264 and H.265 elementary streams, converting ISO-MP4 to MPEG2-TS, packaging HLS and MPEG-DASH, CMAF, content encryption, decryption, and much more.

Bento4 is a Portable C++ Class Library and tools for parsing and creating ISO MP4 (ISO 14496-12, 14496-14 and 14496-15), iTunes, Quicktime, OMA DCF/PDCF, PIFF, DECE, and MPEG-DASH or Smooth Streaming files containing MPEG-4 or other types of media streams.
Note: I cancelled this project. I advise programmers to use upstream libdash instead. If someone wants to continue development of libdashS, I'll gladly hand the project over.
LibdashS (pronounced "libdashes") is a fork of the libdash library: https://github.com/bitmovin/libdash
Compared with the original libdash, libdashS adds TLS support, and a SWIG ( http://swig.org ) interface file that can be used to access libdashS functionality from programming languages other than C++.
