yabdialog displays dialogs, alerts and panels on the Haiku Desktop
yabdialog (previously called hdialog) is a CLI utility that displays a variety of dialogs, alerts and panels with more control over color and placement than you get with the alert and filepanel commands included with Haiku. It also contains additional widgets and lets you control your clipboard. The yabdialog command should be callable from any scripting language that can issue a SYSTEM call and receive string data back from standard input. All parameters must be supplied, in the correct order. On the bright side, all parameters are case-insensitive License: Public Domain (2014). Yab source files will be found in /boot/home/config/data/src after installation, in Yabadabbadoo format. Installation: Move (don't copy) the .hpkg file into /boot/home/config/packages on any Haiku installation with Package Management.
Markdown-capable text editor for Haiku
Rondel is a text editor. Nothing special about it, you've used text editors before. But Rondel allows you to insert Markdown formatting codes, either by hand or from its menus, and to generate HTML files from its own text files. Installation: Move (don't copy) the .hpkg file into /boot/home/config/packages on any Haiku installation with Package Management enabled. If your Haiku installation is quite up-to-date, you should be able to double-click the .hpkg and have it load into HaikuDepot, ready for installation. The source files will be found in /boot/home/config/data/src after installation, in Yabadabbadoo format.
Building a FORTH in C for practice.
C language implementation of my BIF 6809 variant of fig-FORTH. May be interesting to programmers with C background who want to understand the high-level version of the low-level of FORTH. Those requiring a fully functioning FORTH may look elsewhere. (The releases are usually out of date. Best to browse the code repository and download the latest snapshot.) (I am now mirroring the project at http://sourceforge.jp/projects/bif-c/, to make it more accessible to Japanese associates who might be interested.)
Manjaro is a user-friendly Linux distribution based on the independently developed Arch operating system. Within the Linux community, Arch itself is renowned for being an exceptionally fast, powerful, and lightweight distribution that provides access to the very latest cutting edge - and bleeding edge - software. However, Arch is also aimed at more experienced or technically-minded users. As such, it is generally considered to be beyond the reach of those who lack the technical expertise (or persistence) required to use it. Developed in Austria, France, and Germany, Manjaro provides all the benefits of the Arch operating system combined with a focus on user-friendliness and accessibility. Available in both 32 and 64 bit versions, Manjaro is suitable for newcomers as well as experienced Linux users. For newcomers, a user-friendly installer is provided, and the system itself is designed to work fully 'straight out of the box'.

C++ class to generate biologically plausible genetic codes
The "GeneticCode" C++ class is designed to generate versions of the genetic code subject to the requirements of the three major models of the genetic code origin and evolution (about these models see, e.g., Koonin & Novozhilov, 2009, IUBMB Life). This class was written specifically to perform statistical test for the paper Makukov & shCherbak (2017), but it might be used for a wider class of studies related to the genetic code. By default, the class "GeneticCode" generates alternative genetic codes, with the reqirement of block structure, and, optionally, with the assumption of stereochemical or biosynthetic models (to impose the assumption of the adaptive model, simply filter the codes using the error_cost() function). See Appendix in Makukov & shCherbak (2017) for the description of the algorithm. The code requires Qt 5. To compile the provided example, run 'qmake' to produce the Makefile, and then run 'make' to compile the executable file. License: Public Domain.
An app launcher for the Haiku OS
LiftOff is an application launcher. It always comes up on the opposite side of the Deskbar, and closes down once an app has been launched, with a single click.
Font manager for Haiku
The newest member of the Haiku family is a font manager. I have a lot of font packages on my repo. Some of those are just drop-in replacements for Arial, Courier, and Times New Roman. I'm not interested in those. If you need those fonts, you will install them and leave them in place. Fontmonkey will also not touch the standard Haiku fonts. No, it's the fancy font for a poster or a flyer that concerns me here. Typically you use those once, and then they just take up space on the HD and clutter up the Fonts menu of your text editor. FontMonkey is a specialized package manager just for those fonts. Pick a font, install it and when you are done, remove it again, all via the Haiku package management setup. Obviously it has a preview facility. The initial release supports thirty fonts from my repo. As I make new font packages (and there are a lot of those lined up!), I will add them to FontMonkey.
Libraries for the yab programming language under Haiku
An alternative IDE for the yab programming language
Yabadabbadoo is an alternative IDE (Integrated Development Environment) for Jan Bungeroth's yab programming language for Haiku. Yabadabbadoo differs from the official yab IDE in that it creates subroutines (and some other important parts of your program) as separate files, then glues them together as required. This makes it easier to write long programs: instead of constantly scrolling up and down between subroutines, you just double-click on the one you want to edit - more like we used to work in QuickBasic. Debugging, on the other hand, becomes a little more tricky than in the official IDE. Yabadabbadoo suggests that you reserve workspace 4 for its own use and for best results demands a minimum resolution of 1024 x 768 on that workspace. Source code is included. In Yabadabbadoo format, of course.
General-purpose text editor for Haiku
Trope is a text editor, written in the yab programming language for the Haiku Operating System. Nothing special about it, you've used text editors before. It does have a few features other Haiku text editors presently don't have, though. 1. easy access to High-Ascii and Unicode accented characters from the menus 2. Graphical Toolbar 3. Snippets 4. Word and page count How big a file can Trope take? Well, I test it on Tostoy's War and Peace - over 3 megabytes of text. Trope takes a very long time to load this monster, but it doesn't crash under the load, and once it's in, it will happily open up new windows with lesser documents.. So if you plan to write something longer than War and Peace, you probably need a different tool :-) License: Public domain. The source files will be found in /boot/system/data/src after installation, in Yabadabbadoo format.
This will be a simple tandem text editor. It will broad cast document events to clients over a web connection. What it should do is allow more than one person to edit a document at the same time. Of course the one editing has a lock.
