    age

    age

A simple, modern and secure encryption tool (and Go library)

age is a security-oriented tool and library by Filo Sottile. age is a simple, modern, secure encryption utility (and Go library) that emphasizes minimal configuration and strong defaults. It provides small explicit keys, no complex options, and is designed for UNIX-style composability; you can pipe into it, integrate it into scripts, etc. It supports a clearly defined format and promotes interoperability across implementations (there are Rust, TypeScript, etc). The project is well-suited for personal data encryption, backup use-cases, scripting encryption workflows, and embedding encryption in tools. Because of its design philosophy, it avoids the bloat of many older encryption utilities while maintaining strong cryptographic hygiene. It’s especially useful for developers or system administrators who want to adopt encryption without learning a multitude of options.

    frontend-mentor-challenges

    frontend-mentor-challenges

My submissions for the Frontend Mentor Challenges

The frontend-mentor-challenges repository contains the author’s submissions to the platform Frontend Mentor — which offers structured UI/UX layout challenges (landing pages, components, form designs) for front-end developers. The codebase shows solutions in HTML, CSS, Javascript, with each challenge typically including an original design file plus the author’s implementation. It’s a great way to practice responsive layouts, CSS grid/flexbox mastery, UI refinement, and build portfolio-worthy front-end snapshots. The README shows that the author has live demos and even a YouTube playlist of walkthroughs. This sort of repository is useful for demonstrating front-end craftsmanship, CSS/HTML mastery, and attention to design detail. It also helps reinforce iteration on design challenges and small reusable components.

    libgphoto2

    libgphoto2

The libgphoto2 camera access and control library

libgphoto2 is a library that can be used by applications to access various digital cameras. libgphoto2 itself is not a GUI application, as opposed to gphoto. There are GUI frontends for the gphoto2 library, however, such as gtkam for example. libgphoto2 can only talk to cameras the language of those it understands. That is, if you own a camera that speaks a language that isn't published anywhere and nobody has been able to figure out the meaning of the sentences, libgphoto2 cannot communicate with those cameras. Then, there are cameras supporting the so-called USB Mass Storage protocol. This is a protocol that has been published and lets you access any storage device, be it a camera or a disk connected via USB to your computer. As there are already drivers for this protocol out there, you don't need an additional library like libgphoto2. The list of cameras that use USB Mass Storage is getting longer every day, so we won't publish it.

    rust_cmd_lib

    rust_cmd_lib

Common rust command-line macros and utilities

rust_cmd_lib is a Rust library designed to make it easier to write shell-script–style tasks in Rust, blending the power and safety of Rust with the expressiveness of shell pipelines. It provides macros and utilities that let you spawn external processes, redirect input/output, and pipe commands together, all without invoking a shell. You can write something like run_cmd!(ls -l | grep foo > out.txt) in a more declarative style, rather than manually wiring up file descriptors, handles, and child processes. The library also supports features like variable substitution, scoped environment settings, and defining custom commands (functions) that behave like built-ins. It hides much of the boilerplate of std::process::Command when you're doing simple task automations, but still allows full flexibility when needed. Because it avoids launching a shell, it reduces some classes of security and quoting errors, while improving readability of scripting logic inside a Rust binary.

base64 RFC1113 Vanilla ANSI-C Code for a portable stand-alone file encode/decode utility. In 2001, I asked people to 'Help me break it!' Since then, 10+years later, the code remains unbroken and is in wide production use world-wide. It has been ported to all major architectures and been used as a template for ports to different computer and human languages. This is very mature and stable code. Although this comes from a project that was constrained by export controls and is used in secure systems, it is not security code per-se. I have therefore altered the 'Export Controls' category.

    101 FastAPI Tips

    101 FastAPI Tips

FastAPI Tips by The FastAPI Expert!

101 FastAPI Tips is a curated collection of practical FastAPI advice from a developer deeply involved in the FastAPI ecosystem. Rather than being a full framework or application template, it works as a compact learning resource for improving real FastAPI projects. The tips cover performance, async behavior, WebSocket patterns, project structure, dependency choices, testing habits, and production-minded design decisions. It is especially helpful for developers who already know the basics and want to avoid subtle mistakes that can hurt scalability, reliability, or maintainability. Many entries explain not just what to do, but why a certain pattern is better in FastAPI or Starlette-based applications. The repository is best used as a checklist, reference, and learning guide for building cleaner Python APIs.

    AWS Lambda for .NET

    AWS Lambda for .NET

Libraries, samples and tools to help .NET Core developers

AWS Lambda for .NET is the repository that houses tools, libraries and templates to build and deploy AWS Lambda functions using the .NET ecosystem (including .NET Core and .NET 7+). It provides NuGet packages for event models (e.g., API Gateway, DynamoDB, S3), utilities such as Amazon.Lambda.Tools for CLI deployment, and Blueprints/templates to scaffold serverless .NET projects quickly. The framework supports writing functions in C# (and VB/F# where applicable), integrates with the .NET CLI and Visual Studio tooling, and allows developers to treat Lambda functions like any other managed .NET application while handling the deployment, packaging and runtime glue. Its goal is to make serverless in AWS feel natural for .NET developers—abstracting away boilerplate and letting you focus on business logic rather than deployment artifacts. It also supports advanced use cases such as .NET Core integration, source-generator annotations, and custom middleware within a function context.

    Alpakka Kafka

    Alpakka Kafka

Alpakka is a Reactive Enterprise Integration library for Java

The Alpakka project is an open source initiative to implement stream-aware and reactive integration pipelines for Java and Scala. It is built on top of Akka Streams and has been designed from the ground up to understand streaming natively and provide a DSL for reactive and stream-oriented programming, with built-in support for backpressure. Akka Streams is a Reactive Stream and JDK 9+ java.util.concurrent.Flow-compliant implementation and therefore fully interoperable with other implementations. As Kafka’s client protocol negotiates the version to use with the Kafka broker, you may use a Kafka client version that is different than the Kafka broker’s version.

    Appyx

    Appyx

Model-driven navigation + UI components with gesture control

Appyx is a modern navigation and UI framework for Jetpack Compose and Compose Multiplatform that introduces a model-driven approach to building application navigation and interactive interfaces. Unlike traditional navigation libraries that rely on predefined patterns such as back stacks, Appyx allows developers to define their own navigation models, giving them full control over how screens and UI elements transition and interact. This model-driven paradigm separates navigation logic from UI rendering, making navigation state testable, reusable, and easier to maintain in large applications. The framework also supports advanced transition animations and gesture-driven interactions, enabling developers to create highly dynamic and visually rich user experiences beyond standard navigation flows.

    Brave

Java distributed tracing implementation compatible with Zipkin backend

Brave is a distributed tracing instrumentation library. Brave typically intercepts production requests to gather timing data, correlate and propagate trace contexts. While typically trace data is sent to Zipkin server, third-party plugins are available to send to alternate services such as Amazon X-Ray. This repository includes dependency-free Java libraries and instrumentation for common components used in production services. For example, this includes trace filters for Servlet and log correlation for Apache Log4J. Brave's dependency-free tracer library works against JRE6+. This is the underlying api that instrumentation use to time operations and add tags that describe them. This library also includes code that parses X-B3-TraceId headers.
