PHIGS (Programmer's Hierarchical Interactive Graphics System)
... takes full advantage of the accelerated drawing capabilities in the hardware. PHIGS is a higher level API than OpenGL that works with a hierarchical scene graph. Models are built up in a Centralized Structure Store (CSS), a database containing the drawing primitives and their attributes (color, line style, etc.). A library providing a full implementation of MPEG-2 transport streams (ISO/IEC 13818-1 aka ITU-T Rec. H.222). Can read, write and edit transport streams. Code is generated from a XML description of the bitstream syntax. This may be extended to other multimedia file formats in the future.
