The motivation for this project is due to old proprietary Tibetan fonts not displaying properly on different systems. However, with the Tibetan unicode fonts being available and maturing in recent years, it makes documents typed in Tibetan unicode fonts readable on different operating systems. The Old Turkic Orhun range was introduced with version 5.2.0 of the Unicode Standard, and is located in Plane 1 (the Supplementary Multilingual Plane). Windows XP and later versions support supplementary characters by default. In Windows 2000, you need to enable support for supplementary characters. These characters cannot easily be displayed in earlier versions of Windows.
