KShutdown is a graphical shutdown utility for Linux and Windows. It allows you to turn off or suspend a computer at a specified time. It features various time and delay options, command-line support, and notifications.

gImageReader is a simple Gtk/Qt front-end to tesseract. DistroClone Backup & Restore In the development of SysLinuxOS, one recurring need was a reliable way to snapshot and restore a system quickly — not just for users, but also during testing and ISO development. That is how DistroClone Backup & Restore was born: a graphical, incremental backup tool designed specifically for Debian-based systems. It is the companion utility to DistroClone Live ISO Builder, and both tools will ship together as part of the SysLinuxOS toolchain in upcoming releases. They are designed to work independently, but their real strength emerges when used together — something I will cover in a future article. Krename is a very powerful batch file renamer for KDE3 and KDE4 which can rename a list of files based on a set of expressions. It can copy/move the files to another directory or simply rename the input files. Krename supports many conversion operations.

Pearl Linux puts a twist on this XFCE Desktop release by using Kwin as pre configured default window manager. Available in both amd64 and i386 it also updates from the Ubuntu 18.04 LTR supported until April 2023. All releases from Pearl up till now have always included Compiz. Since the last time I used Kwin the wobbly windows, magic lamp minimize effect etc were not really were I felt it needed to be. Now Kwin really is very smooth and it is a pretty nice alternative to compiz for xfce. As with all other Pearl releases you can count on the usual software bundle we preinstall. Use your favorite software to flash ISO to USB.

SyncWall is quite a basic wallpaper changer with a special feature, it is the ability to synchronize wallpaper change between several workstations with a basic (and unsecured) client/server protocol. Each workstation must share the same pool of files, there is no FTP or Internet download. Because SyncWall is written with Qt, SyncWall runs on Windows and Linux (MacOSX isn't tested yet).
