VIMKiller
Exiting VIM is hard; sometimes we need to take drastic measures
VIMKiller is a humorous yet functional project created as a playful response to the classic challenge of exiting the Vim editor. Designed as a physical button housed in a 3D-printed case, it connects to an Arduino that sends a serial message when pressed. This message is captured by a Julia script running in the background, which promptly terminates all Vim processes on a Linux machine. The project includes CAD files for the enclosure, Arduino code, and setup instructions, making it possible to build your own version. While conceived as a joke originating from a Julia Slack discussion, the device does actually work, blending satire with practical execution. Though sunset in favor of VIMKiller RECHARGED, the original project remains a lighthearted reminder of how software frustrations can inspire inventive, if unconventional, solutions. -

Agents.jl is a pure Julia framework for agent-based modeling (ABM): a computational simulation methodology where autonomous agents react to their environment (including other agents) given a predefined set of rules. The simplicity of Agents.jl is due to the intuitive space-agnostic modeling approach we have implemented: agent actions are specified using generically named functions (such as "move agent" or "find nearby agents") that do not depend on the actual space the agents exist in, nor on the properties of the agents themselves. Overall this leads to ultra-fast model prototyping where even changing the space the agents live in is a matter of only a couple of lines of code. -

Julia interface to the macOS Accelerate framework. This provides a Julia interface to some of the macOS Accelerate frameworks. At the moment, this package provides access to Accelerate BLAS and LAPACK using the libblastrampoline framework, an interface to the array-oriented functions, which provide a vectorized form for many common mathematical functions. The performance is significantly better than using standard libm functions in some cases, though there does appear to be some reduced accuracy. -

The ApproxFun Examples repo contains many examples of using this package, in Jupyter notebooks and Julia scripts. Note that this is independently maintained, so it might not always be in sync with the latest version of ApproxFun. We recommend checking the examples in the documentation first, as these will always be compatible with the latest version of the package. -

It leverages on the built-in macro programming features of Julia to symbolically process, and manipulate pipeline expressions and makes it easy to discover optimal structures for machine learning regression and classification. To illustrate, here is a pipeline expression and evaluation of a typical machine learning workflow that extracts numerical features (numf) for ica (Independent Component Analysis) and pca (Principal Component Analysis) transformations, respectively, concatenated with the hot-bit encoding (ohe) of categorical features (catf) of a given data for rf (Random Forest) modeling. -
