The animation comes from thirty six medium resolution images, played one after the other, frame by frame giving a simulation of the rotating earth. This widget is a javascript/XML creation that uses the Konfabulator Yahoo javascript widget engine. Update 12/17: Noticed that playback starts to slow down after 20 or so frames. Need to investigate further.
