libircclient is a small but powerful library, which implements client-server IRC protocol. It has all features needed to create your own IRC client or bot, including multi-threading support, sync and async interfaces, CTCP/DCC support, colors, SSL connections and so on.

It can be easily extended by means of its plugin API, and offers a host of features. It is known to function on any OS on which Ruby 1.9 functions (such as Linux, Mac OS X, BSD, Microsoft Windows, etc.).
This is a simple working Java based chat room server + client.
There are many bugs hope to fix soon, you may download it as a learning experience or for use in the office.
