The Hamlib project's purpose is to develop flexible and portable shared libraries that offer a standardized API to control any radio oriented equipment through a computer interface.
A prototype input method for OCZ's NIA headset allows full text entry. It is based on Morse Code (3 keystrokes generated from the NIA software) and can produce full English text with all ASCII symbols, uppercase and lowercase.

Aircraft computers use the Acars protocol to tell ground operations about their ID, flight number, position and other free text as entered by pilots. Using an airband scanner hooked up to the line-in, this software decodes and displays the information.
