PBMaster is a software implementation of Profibus protocol (IEC 61158) compatible master node. ProfiM is an implementation of Profibus DP protocol for DP master devices. It is targeted at devices lacking any Profibus communication hardware support. For example a common PC UART or a PCI-based RS-232/485 card can be used for the fieldbus access.
