Pixelitor is a cross-platform raster graphics editor written in Java. It supports layers, layer masks, text layers, drawing, multiple undo, etc. It has more than 80 image filters and color adjustments, some of which are unique.

mtPaint is a painting program designed for creating icons and pixel-based artwork. It can edit indexed palette or 24 bit RGB images and offers painting, palette, and image manipulation tools.

Colorator can also edit normal SCR Spectrum images. It can export to TAP to view in your real ZX Spectrum or emulator.

DiscWrapper is a cover designer for home-made discs. It was made with Code::Blocks and it uses the wxWidgets library. It has template covers. Depending on the case there are pages where you can place labels, images, and lists.

TinyDoodle is a simplistic sketching program for J2ME (MIDP 2.0) mobile devices, geared for low resolution screen. Supported file format is Wireless Bitmap (WBMP). While it works best on touch-enabled devices with pointer dragging support, older devices with no pointer dragging or no touchscreen at all can also draw on it too. It is intended to be only a sketchpad; it can draw in black and white, with three pencil size selection, on a fixed canvas size.

AprilBrush is a Qt-based application for digital painting with support for layers, brush libraries and multi-page, written in C++/JavaScript/QML languages. The program saves the image files in the format OpenRaster and can also export them to PNG. Required a pressure sentive input device (graphic tablet).
