LDraw™ editor for LEGO® style digital building instructions.
LPub3D is an Open Source WYSIWYG editing application for creating LEGO® style digital building instructions. LPub3D is developed and maintained by Trevor SANDY. It uses the LDraw™ parts library, the most comprehensive library of digital Open Source LEGO® bricks available (www.ldraw.org/ ) and reads the LDraw LDR and MPD model file formats. LPub3D is available for free under the GNU Public License v3 and runs on Windows, Linux and macOS Operating Systems. LPub3D is also available as a Linux 'no-install', multi-platform AppImage. Portions of LPub3D are based on LPUB© 2007-2009 Kevin Clague, LeoCAD© 2018 Leonardo Zide.and additional third party components. Ayam is a free 3D modelling environment for the RenderMan interface.
Earth orbits and coverage display in 3D on your laptop.
SaVi - simulate Iridium, Globalstar, O3b, Sirius Radio, GPS, Galileo and other satellite constellations, modify them, or design your own. Uses Tcl/Tk and Unix libraries; 3D viewing option requires Geomview running on X Window.
Functy is a 3D graph drawing package that generates immediate results.
Note: The Functy and libsymbolic code has now moved to GitLab: https://gitlab.com/flypig/functy https://gitlab.com/flypig/libsymbolic This project has been left here for archival purposes. Functy is a 3D graph drawing package. It allows Cartesian, spherical and parametric curve functions to be plotted and altered quickly and easily. This immediacy and the vivid results promote fun exploration of 3D function. Rendering is performed entirely on the GPU to improve visuals and performance. Ubuntu functy PPA: https://launchpad.net/~flypig/+archive/ubuntu/ppa
Audio spectrum visualiser in 3D for Linux
Spectrum3d is a software for Linux that displays the harmonics of the sound in 3D, either in real-time or from a preloaded file. It is multitouch and compatible with JACK. It uses OpenGL, SDL, Gstreamer, Gtk+ and (optionally) libjack.
3D rendering and scene graph library
High-level 3D graphics library. Supports retained and immediate mode rendering, an extensible file format, plug-in renderers, a wide range of high level geometries, hierarchical models, and a consistent and object-orientated API.
Calculation of radiation view factors by adaptive integration. A cross-platform port of the public-domain code by George Walton.

now gnu-ized A raytracer does not require custom code for (shadows, mirrors) like GL: it uses physics to simulate light to make realistic images, leaving one to specify only what is in the scene. (at a cost of speed) Rayshade is a 1990's raytracer, a great one back then (and still useful). Rayshade has an excellent easy to read yet informative User's Guide that other's could not help but copy from. Rayshade has no GUI but as a text language it's simple and elegant. The Utah Raster Toolkit liburt is a "depends" (install before Rayshade) unless using Rayshade-Mathematica (reads raw RGB). 4.0.9 is patched for "ray4mm" to partly allow alpha channel without URT (a simple change allows chan setting in img header if used). Allows "textsurf" to do clear background textures, see ERRATA) Rayshade Quick Reference is visible on the Files page.
GLFFmpeg uses the video recording functionality provided by the FFmpeg library to capture content generated using OpenGL. The cross-platform library provides a minimalistic set of API to simplify the task of capturing OpenGL output to a video stream. GNU Lesser General Public License version 2.1 (LGPLv2.1)
A generic hierarchical file format. BHM can be seen as the binary equivalent of XML. It allows flexible hierarchies of any type of data, in a platform-independent way. BHM however trades XML's readability for compactness and speed of processing.
