Open Source Solid Modeling CAD
BRL-CAD is a powerful cross-platform constructive solid geometry solid modeling system that includes an interactive geometry editor, ray-tracing for rendering & geometric analyses, network distributed framebuffer support, image & signal-processing tools.
A processing system for 3D triangular meshes
MeshLab, a mesh processing system, for user assisted editing, cleaning, filtering and rendering of large unstructured 3D triangular meshes (typical 3D scanning meshes). The system relies for mesh processing tasks on the gpl VCG library (vcg.sf.net).
Creates 3D models from photographs
Regard3D is a free, multiplatform, open-source structure-from-motion application. It creates 3D models of objects, based on photographs from different angles.
First-person 3D building and elevator simulator
Skyscraper is a fully featured first-person 3D virtual building simulator, written in C++ and using the OGRE graphics engine (previous versions used Crystal Space). It's flagship feature is an elaborate and realistic elevator simulator.
Converts a raw digitized polygon mesh to a clean mesh where all the occurrences of a specific set of "defects" are corrected. Holes, self-intersections, degenerate and non-manifold elements are all replaced with valid configurations.
Maxwell Render for Blender
B-Maxwell add-on offers seamless integration with Maxwell Render and Blender
A C++ Tool for the Fast Prototyping of Topological Data Structures
The Mangrove Topological Data Structure (Mangrove TDS) Library is a C++ template tool for the fast prototyping of topological data structures under the same API: - generic representation of any topological data structure, i.e., mangrove; - extensible through dynamic plugins at run-time; - agnostic wrt the representation in use; - any representation is supported without restrictions; - dimension-independent and multi-platform; - efficient representations of non-manifolds; - only one common API and no wrappers; - implicit representation of cells, not directly encoded, i.e., ghost references.
A designer’s program for describing parts of the building
Buildes is an integrated development environment that assists the user in creating building information. It reads a text (session) file from which it compiles the information. It then allows the user to browse, analyze and export the resulting building knowledge. The compilation system is written in pure Python. The building components created are rendered in PythonOCC. The GUI is written using PyQt.
The Open Model API (OMA) isn't only an API, it's also a toolkit. OMA supplies conversion tools for 3D models as well as a developer library inspired by OpenGL's state machine design.
