FreeCAD is an open-source parametric 3D modeler made primarily to design real-life objects of any size. Photogrammetry is the science of making measurements from photographs. It infers the geometry of a scene from a set of unordered photographies or videos. Photography is the projection of a 3D scene onto a 2D plane, losing depth information. The goal of photogrammetry is to reverse this process. three.js is a lightweight and easy-to-use JavaScript 3D library with its own default WebGL renderer. It works by creating a scene with a camera and a geometric cube, the latter of which is added to the scene. This will become the animated object within the scene. A WebGL renderer is created for the scene and the camera, with an added viewport to the document.body element. Finally, the cube is animated within the scene for the camera. A plethora of examples can be found in the project’s website (https://threejs.org/) which use Canvas 2D, SVG and CSS3D renderers that the library also provides.

K-3D is the free (as in freedom) 3d modeling, animation, and rendering system.

OpenSCAD is software for creating solid 3D CAD models. It is free software and available for Linux/UNIX, Windows and Mac OS X. Unlike most free software for creating 3D models (such as Blender) it does not focus on the artistic aspects of 3D modelling but instead on the CAD aspects. Thus it might be the application you are looking for when you are planning to create 3D models of machine parts but pretty sure is not what you are looking for when you are more interested in creating computer-animated movies. OpenSCAD is not an interactive modeller. Instead it is something like a 3D-compiler that reads in a script file that describes the object and renders the 3D model from this script file. This gives you (the designer) full control over the modelling process and enables you to easily change any step in the modelling process or make designs that are defined by configurable parameters.

The Point Cloud Library (PCL) is a standalone, large scale, open project for 2D/3D image and point cloud processing. PCL is released under the terms of the BSD license, and thus free for commercial and research use. VPython makes it easy even for novices to write Python programs that generate navigable real-time 3D animations. Starting with VPython 6, it is based on the cross-platform library wxPython, hence the project name VPython-wx. DeepMind Lab is a 3D learning environment based on id Software's Quake III Arena via ioquake3 and other open source software. DeepMind Lab provides a suite of challenging 3D navigation and puzzle-solving tasks for learning agents. Its primary purpose is to act as a testbed for research in artificial intelligence, especially deep reinforcement learning. If you use DeepMind Lab in your research and would like to cite the DeepMind Lab environment, we suggest you cite the DeepMind Lab paper. To enable compiler optimizations, pass the flag --compilation_mode=opt, or -c opt for short, to each bazel build, bazel test and bazel run command. The flag is omitted from the examples here for brevity, but it should be used for real training and evaluation where performance matters. DeepMind Lab ships with an example random agent in python/random_agent.py which can be used as a starting point for implementing a learning agent.
