Space Daemon is a wrapper built in Go around awesome IPFS tools so that you can have start coding a decentralized desktop app as fast as possible. It's built on top of Textile Threads and Buckets. Space Daemon requires a few modules to run successfully. If you downloaded the binary, you don't have to worry about this since it will be connecting to our services. It's good to understand what's happening behind the scenes though. All encrypted files are stored in an IPFS node. Textile provides encrypted, recoverable, schema-based, and cross-application data storage built on IPFS and libp2p. We like to think of it as a decentralized data wallet with built-in protocols for sharing and recovery, or more simply, an open and programmable iCloud. Textile is still under heavy development and no part of it should be used before a thorough review of the underlying code and an understanding that APIs and protocols may change rapidly.
