An idiomatic, lean, fast & safe pure Rust implementation of Git. gix is a command-line interface (CLI) to access git repositories. It's written to optimize the user experience and perform as well or better than the canonical implementation. Furthermore, it provides an easy and safe to use API in the form of various small crates for implementing your own tools in a breeze. Please see 'Development Status' for a listing of all crates and their capabilities. Please note that all functionality comes from the gitoxide-core library, which mirrors these capabilities and itself relies on all git-* crates. Limit the number of threads used in operations that support it. Choose between 'human' and 'JSON' output formats. Display general information about the index itself, with detailed extension information by default and detailed information about the TREE extension. Follow the linked crate name for detailed status.

Jujutsu is a Git-compatible DVCS. It combines features from Git (data model, speed), Mercurial (anonymous branching, simple CLI free from "the index", revsets, powerful history-rewriting), and Pijul/Darcs (first-class conflicts), with features not found in most of them (working-copy-as-a-commit, undo functionality, automatic rebase, safe replication via rsync, Dropbox, or distributed file system). The command-line tool is called jj for now because it's easy to type and easy to replace (rare in English). The project is called "Jujutsu" because it matches "jj". Jujutsu has two backends. One of them is a Git backend (the other is a native one 1). This lets you use Jujutsu as an alternative interface to Git. The commits you create will look like regular Git commits. You can always switch back to Git. The Git support uses the libgit2 C library.

Onefetch is a command-line Git information tool written in Rust that displays project information and code statistics for a local Git repository directly on your terminal. The tool is completely offline, no network access is required. By default, the repo's information is displayed alongside the dominant language's logo, but you can further configure onefetch to instead use an image, on supported terminals, text input, or nothing at all. It automatically detects open source licenses from texts and provides the user with valuable information like code distribution, pending changes, number of dependencies (by package manager), top contributors (by number of commits), the size on disk, creation date, LOC (lines of code), etc. Onefetch can be configured via command-line flags to display exactly what you want, the way you want it to: you can customize ASCII/Text formatting, disable info lines, ignore files & directories, and output in multiple formats (JSON, Yaml), etc.

This project provides a small executable that forwards all arguments to git running inside Bash on Windows/Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL). Use Git installed in Bash on Windows/Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL) from Windows and Visual Studio Code (VSCode) The primary reason for this tool is to make the Git plugin in Visual Studio Code (VSCode) work with the git command installed in WSL. For these two to interoperate, this tool translates paths between the Windows (C:\Foo\Bar) and Linux (/mnt/c/Foo/Bar) representations. The install.bat script creates a folder structure similar to the one used by Git For Windows, and creates some useful symbolic links in the wslgit\cmd and wslgit\bin folders. VSCode will find the git executable automatically if the two optional installation steps were taken.

You list files hundreds of times a day. Why spend your time squinting at black and white text? exa is an improved file lister with more features and better defaults. It uses colours to distinguish file types and metadata. It knows about symlinks, extended attributes, and Git. And it’s small, fast, and just one single binary. Different types of file and data will be coloured differently, and the user and group columns will be highlighted for the current user. exa can display a file’s extended attributes, as well as standard filesystem information such as the inode, the number of blocks, and a file’s various dates and times. exa queries files in parallel, giving you performance on par with ls. Not only is the standard tree tool built-in, but it’ll show you your files’ information alongside the hierarchy. View the staged and unstaged status of every file, right there in the standard view. Also works in tree view for a high-level overview of your repository.

git-branchless is a suite of tools that enhances Git in several ways. It makes Git easier to use, both for novices and for power users. Patch-stack workflows: strong support for "patch-stack" workflows as used by the Linux and Git projects, as well as at many large tech companies. (This is how Git was "meant" to be used.) Prototyping and experimenting workflows: strong support for prototyping and experimental work via "divergent" development. git sync: to rebase all local commit stacks and branches without having to check them out first. git move: The ability to move subtrees rather than "sticks" while cleaning up old branches, not touching the working copy, etc. Anonymous branching: reduces the overhead of branching for experimental work. In-memory operations: to modify the commit graph without having to check out the commits in question. git next/prev: to quickly jump between commits and branches in a commit stack.

Code evolves, and we all spend time studying diffs. Delta aims to make this both efficient and enjoyable: it allows you to make extensive changes to the layout and styling of diffs, as well as allowing you to stay arbitrarily close to the default git/diff output. Language syntax highlighting with color themes. Within-line highlights based on a Levenshtein edit inference algorithm. Git style strings (foreground color, background color, font attributes) are supported for >20 stylable elements. Delta provides Stylable box/line decorations to draw attention to commit, file and hunk header sections. Support for Git's color-moved feature. Code can be copied directly from the diff. n and N keybindings to move between files in large diffs, and between diffs in log -p views. Commit hashes can be formatted as terminal hyperlinks to the GitHub/GitLab/Bitbucket page. Delta acts as a pager for git's output, and delta in turn passes its own output on to a "real" pager.

Native cross-platform full feature terminal-based sequence editor for interactive rebase in Git 1.7.8+. Built and works on Linux, macOS, Windows and many others. Easily set the action to pick, squash, fixup, edit, reword and drop. Reorder the action list with a single key press. Change action and reorder multiple lines at once with visual mode. View the commit overview, and a full commit diff with a press of a key. Easily edit the command that is run by an exec command. Need to do something in your Git editor? Quickly shell out to your editor, make a change and return to the tool. GitBash requires the use of winpty in order to work correctly. The tool has built-in help that can be accessed by using the ? key. Key bindings can be customized, see configuration for all key bindings and information on configuring.

Combine the advantages of a monorepo with those of multirepo setups by leveraging a blazingly-fast, incremental, and reversible implementation of git history filtering. The partial repo will act as a normal git repository but only contain the files found in the subdirectory and only commits affecting those files. The partial repo supports both fetch as well as push operation. This helps not just to improve performance on the client due to having fewer files in the tree, it also enables collaboration on parts of the monorepo with other parties utilizing git's normal distributed development features. For example, this makes it easy to mirror just selected parts of your repo to public github repositories or specific customers. Simplify code sharing and dependency management. Beyond just subdirectories, Josh supports filtering, re-mapping and composition of arbitrary virtual repositories from the content found in the monorepo.

This is a port of Facebook's hg absorb. Facebook demoed hg absorb which is probably the coolest workflow enhancement I've seen to version control in years. Essentially, when your working directory has uncommitted changes on top of draft changesets, you can run hg absorb and the uncommitted modifications are automagically folded ("absorbed") into the appropriate draft ancestor changesets. This is essentially doing hg histedit + "roll" actions without having to make a commit or manually make history modification rules. The command essentially looks at the lines that were modified, finds a changeset modifying those lines, and amends that changeset to include your uncommitted changes. If the changes can't be made without conflicts, they remain uncommitted. This workflow is insanely useful for things like applying review feedback. You just make file changes, run hg absorb and the mapping of changes to commits sorts itself out. It is magical.
