The main aim of this initiative is to move the strenghts usually linked to desktop GIS to a web environment, by leveraging open source technologies. This is a free software project that is part of the open source GIS world, and it is developed in Java using the Google Web Toolkit framework. Geodysseus is a cross platform OpenGL interactive map projection and navigation program. The user clicks on a map or 3D globe to create geodetic traverses. The geodesic can then be approximated with any number of loxodrome legs. Tracks may then be re-projected onto different map projections. The aim is to make a multi-purpose navigational tool for Land, Sea and Air. At present, the program is in early development and should not be considered suitable for navigation. The program comes with documentation in html format.
