Arcan is a portable and fully scriptable frontend for launching games, emulators and other full-screen applications in a visual appealing way, as seamlessly as possible. The API is sufficiently complete for other projects as well, e.g. rapid game prototyping (both 2D and 3D). Note that we have left sourceforge (thanks for all the spam). As to programming complexity, it's very simple... this all aims at classical physics simulation in a simple but efficient way. The numeric stuff really just illustrate the use of a real little physics-engine aimed at articulated body simulation... that's the funnest part of it: but of course much more is coming. ...

The environment is a hilly terrain which can also be user-defined in the form of a Bitmap image file (where intensity of red component defines height). It's similar to the classic "Terep 2".
