Avicenna is an application for visualizing location data stored in excel or .csv table files on a map or in a table view. It provides several export functions (such as single pictures, database dumps and even a HTML-export that enables you to use Avicenna on your website). It was developed as part of the course "Techniken der Projektentwicklung" in summer semester 2012 at the University of Bielefeld by Team 2 and is licensed under the GNU Affero General Public License version 3. This project is finished and other developers should be able to use Avicennas features for their own visualization projects without having too much trouble. We provide an installation/building tutorial as well as the complete sourcecode and necessary databases. Avicennas internal language is German, therefore it may be necessary to do translation work for international use. For more details, please have a look at our project website.

addressdb is a graphic front end for an SQLite database. Typically the database may be an address book. addressdb incorporates flexible field searches based on SQlite's native comparison operators and word and regular expression searches. Records may be exported as pdf files with flexible formats (eg address labels) and as text files (eg comma separated values - csv) also with flexible formatting. csv files may be used as backup and to transfer data between databases; addressdb can create a database from a csv file. Database fields and output formats are specified through a text configuration file which may refer to more than one database and include several output formats. Fields may be edited on output (eg commas replaced by linefeeds or the case changed)

DBBrowser is an open source (GPL license), cross-platform tool which can be used to view the contents of a database. It works with Oracle and MySQL. The user can view, modify, delete records without writing SQL.

DBCASE is a computer-aided software engineering tool to assist database designers for designing databases, covering the conceptual, logical and physical design stages. It is multiplatform, globalized and intended to work with SGBDs as MySQL and MS Access. This project requires Java 1.8. The main file is acide.jar at the root folder which can be executed with java -jar acide.jar. From version 4.0, the project can be started in Windows with the script start.bat, and includes the Java system, so there is no need for its installation. Other OS's still need it.
